Super Saiyan Shallot ready to defeat Frieza and restore the Saiyan pride of the Saiyan Army in Dragon Ball Legends
In Dragon Ball Legends, several members of the Saiyan Army end up participating in the Tournament of Time, including Team Bardock and Saiyan Army Remnants. Raditz (Raditz Saga) is the first member of the Saiyan Army encountered by Shallot and his allies. Raditz is revealed to be the one who leads the Saibamen that attacked Gohan (Kid) whom Raditz has been hunting. Fortunately, Gohan's mentor Piccolo is nearby and joins Shallot, Zahha, and Gohan in fighting Raditz. Unfortunately Piccolo's plan to weaken Raditz by grabbing his tail fails due to Raditz training it to rid himself of his weakness. As a result, Raditz knocks out Piccolo. Fortunately Piccolo manages to attack Raditz from behind while he is confronting Gohan, Shallot, and Zahha. Zahha then manages to teleport himself and his allies away with his Locational Phasing Spell. Unfortunately, Piccolo is badly injured, forcing Shallot and Gohan to seek out a mentor to train them, though fortunately Beerus offers to supply them with one. Beerus selects Vegeta (pre-Dragon Ball Z) to mentor them forcing the Saiyan Prince to comply by threatening to Hakai him and Nappa. After Shallot, Gohan, and a initially reluctant Zahha (who got roped into their training), manage to best Nappa, they begin their training under Vegeta and Nappa. Nappa has them face wave after wave of Saibamen, until Vegeta forbids him from wasting anymore Saibamen. Eventually Whis informs Vegeta that he and Nappa will face their students in a final test that will be held near the Capitol, telling him that while Beerus wants him to go all out, he also wants his students to prevail or otherwise he will destroy him. Fortunately for Vegeta and Nappa, Shallot and company pass. After bidding their mentors farewell, Shallot, Gohan, and Zahha confront the wayward Raditz who they discover is under the influence of the mysterious Dark Ki. They manage to kill DRK Raditz and return to the Capitol. After Shallot eats and rests, Vegeta and Nappa return to the Capitol to recruit Shallot inti taking Raditz's place since he proved himself to be Raditz's superior, though Shallot refuses and knows Vegeta well enough to realize he won't back down without a fight. Fortunately when Shallot's ally Bulma (Youth) tells them to stop before they destroy the Capitol, Beerus backs her up telling Vegeta to take care of his remaining subordinate after Beerus uses Power Flick on Nappa after he tries to attack him despite Vegeta's orders not to, forcing the Saiyan Prince to retreat. However during Part 2, Shallot seeks out Nappa and Vegeta after forming an alliance with pre-Namek Sage 1st Form Frieza and his Frieza Force faction to deal with the rogue faction that had kidnapped Bulma under the orders of former Saiyan Army soldier Turles. Vegeta agrees hoping that the two factions might destroy each other giving the Saiyan Army Remnants an advantage in the Tournament of Time. Though they manage to rescue Bulma and learn that the one leading the rogue faction was the present era Frost who pretended to be Final Form Frieza in an attempt to get his revenge on Frieza for his counterpart's betrayal during the Tournament of Power. After Frost is defeated, Frieza forms an alliance with Turles and Dr. Gero, sending his forces to deal with the Saiyan Army Remnants. Vegeta confronts Frieza, Shallot and Nappa confront his army lead by the Ginyu Force. However Nappa decides to force Shallot to go help Vegeta, even if it means dying in battle against the Frieza Force. After failing to sense Nappa or the Ginyu Force's ki, Shallot concludes that Nappa had perished while taking the Ginyu Force with him. Shallot and Vegeta confront Frieza who transforms. After reaching his Final Form, Frieza attacks Shallot but Vegeta takes the attack due to being inspired by Shallot's refusal to back down, as it reminded him of the Saiyan Army's "Saiyan pride" which they had lost when they fell under the Frieza Force's control. Vegeta's death and Frieza's dismissal of his "Saiyan pride", enrages Shallot who achieves his Super Saiyan form. After becoming a Super Saiyan, Shallot declares he will defeat Frieza and bring back the Saiyan pride. Super Saiyan Shallot is ultimately successful and kills Frieza.
Ranks
The Saiyan Army employs various ranks based on power levels: the only ranks mentioned in the series are "Elites" and "Low-Class", with the series creator Akira Toriyama confirming in an interview that there are also "Mid-Class" warriors.
Almost all Saiyans are low-class warriors, with Bardock being at the top of the low-class.[1] There are about ten mid-class warriors, with Nappa as the highest ranking general of the army and Raditz of equal rank to him.[2] Among the elite warriors there are only two: King Vegeta and Prince Vegeta. This rank is determined by an innate latent battle power, but naturally, if their battle power rises greatly afterward, they can be promoted.[1]
Known members
Remaining members of the Saiyan Army by the time of Dragon Ball Z
Significant followers of King Vegeta include Zorn, Nappa, Team Bardock, Raditz, and initially Paragus. Malaka and Planthorr are also presiding doctors at a Saiyan hospital. Bardock's wife Gine was also a member of the army as well though she retired from the army and became a meat processor on Planet Vegeta showing that it is possible for low class warriors to retire from the military. After the Genocide of the Saiyans, Prince Vegeta became the de facto leader of the remnants of the Saiyan Army which consisted of himself, Nappa, and Bardock's eldest son Raditz who continued to serve as part of the Galactic Frieza Army. Raditz younger brother Kakarot also survived as he had been sent to Earth, though he suffered amnesia and became the pure hearted Goku, rejecting the evil ways of his people when Raditz came to Earth which resulted in the Saiyan conflict which left Prince Vegeta the only surviving member of the Saiyan Army (as his brother Tarble had been exiled), though he would eventually join forces with his former enemies the Dragon Team to combat the Frieza Force and Frieza himself. Other survivors appear in the films including Turles a low class warrior who left the army to form his own group of mercenaries the Turles Crusher Corps. and Paragus who was sentenced to death along with his newborn son Broly by King Vegeta before the Genocide of the Saiyans, though survived thanks to Broly's power and later sought revenge on Prince Vegeta.
In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, King Vegeta exiled Broly to Vampa under the cover story that he had been sent there to conquer it for training, though admitted to Paragus that he believed Broly's power to be a threat and exiled him as a precaution, though Paragus realized King Vegeta saw Broly as a threat to his family's rule. Paragus stole Beets' ship and went AWOL in order to find his son only to become stranded due to Paragus crash landing Beets' ship which damaged its main floater. Paragus kills Beets to preserve the ship's remaining provisions for himself and Broly. It is also revealed in Broly and Dragon Ball Minus that Gine and Bardock sent Kakarot to Earth to save him as Bardock suspected Frieza was planning to destroy them and sent Kakarot to Earth to ensure his survival should Bardock's fears come true. Bardock selected Earth as its inhabitants were too weak to be a threat and Earth was far enough away to escape Frieza's notice. Bardock had also planned to retrieve Kakarot should his fears have proven unfounded. Additionally Gine contacted Raditz and told him of Kakarot being sent to Earth, with Raditz assuming he had been sent to invade it as was standard practice among the Saiyan Army being unaware his parents true intentions which lead Raditz, Vegeta, Nappa, and the Frieza Force to believe Kakarot had been sent to Earth on an official Saiyan Army mission to invade Earth in the aftermath following Planet Vegeta's destruction. Nappa also asks Vegeta about his younger brother whom Vegeta confirms was sent offfworld though he was unaware of the planet that Tarble was exiled to. In addition to Nappa, Raditz, and Vegeta two unnamed adult Saiyan soldiers survive due to invading the same planet with Nappa, Raditz, and Vegeta though they apparently perished at some point before Raditz arrived on Earth in Age 761. Paragus and Broly managed to survive on Vampa for years until Cheelai and Lemo found them after Frieza had been revived following Universe 7's victory in the Tournament of Power. Paragus and Broly joined the Frieza Force due to Paragus' desire to take revenge on Vegeta due to his father's banishment of Broly. However Frieza took advantage of Paragus and Broly, even killing Paragus to cause Broly to transform into a Super Saiyan. Broly survives his battle with Gogeta thanks to Cheelai and Lemo using the Dragon Balls to send Broly home to Vampa where they later join him after defecting from the Frieza Force. Goku finds Broly using Instant Transmission and offers to train him to control his power as well as supplying Broly and his two friends with two Senzu Beans for emergencies and Capsules created by Bulma.
