Chapter 73 - Chapter 73-Peace of Mind

"Damn it, damn it, damn it!" Clutching the steering wheel, Li Jun pressed his forehead against the cool surface of the steering wheel and inadvertently sounded the horn. A couple passing by his car threw him an angry look and kept walking.

Li Jun sat in the cold leather interior of his for a time, keeping an eye out for the flat with the bourgeois exterior.

What went wrong? Li Na had asked him where he was concerned in a piercing stare and with a concerned demeanor he'd gotten accustomed to.

After meeting with Li Na yesterday evening, she must have noticed his absentmindedness and he kept wondering maybe he should tell her about the arrival of Daiyu but he decided to put it off for the time being.

He had told his Chen Guang to keep tabs on Daiyu and tell him about her whereabouts, though Chen Guang accepted to do it reluctantly. He will have to tell Li Na eventually, No more beating around the bush. He'd just have to tell her…

He locked his exotic car which he parked in front of the apartment, drew his sweater sleeves down around his chilled fingers, and trekked across the parking lot toward the front door of the apartment.

He paced the front of the apartment with an intimidating dread. He can't quite put his finger on what it is that has him so anxious about Daiyu's arrival in Taipei. It doesn't matter how much he hates the fact his peace of mind was fucking disrupted due to her sudden appearance.

It's something he can't change his mind about now. If not for the guilt eating him due to her health issue, he would have found a way to chase her back. That's what you get for putting up with someone who thought she is entitled to you, the words of Chen Guang cut through his mind.

But he does not think the way Daiyu acted was with entitlement, he just felt that she needed his support due to her only member of her family dying due to his own negligence. It's the least he can do.

For all he knows, Daiyu could be a positive influence in his and Li Na's life. A fresh new face. Because his meeting with Li Na had made him realize what inner peace and happiness meant. Maybe she'll turn out to be a good friend. Or better yet, her meeting Li Na could make all the difference in Daiyu life. The one who could turn it all around for her just like the way she did for him.

Who the fuck is he kidding? He knows that Daiyu could be a little immature, not like the maturity of Li Na that beams with wisdom. He's going into this situation with supposed indifference, only praying that any trouble is averted.

Disrupting him from my thoughts, was the appearance of a tall slender woman looking at him with shock, unhidden joy, and amazement. Li Jun was shocked to see a glimpse of a platinum-dyed blonde hair because her hair was supposed to be black, she was carrying what looks like a huge plush cat in her hand and wearing a flimsy cloth for what he supposed to be a dress. Really? What the fuck does she need an enormous, green stuffed cat for?.

Li Jun approaches the frail-looking lady with astonishment "Diayu?". Her young bright attitude obscured her shaky walk at a first impression. Her crystal blue eyes shine with a childish innocence that leads one to believe she is naive.

"Hi, Li Jun, I missed you!" she squeals, throwing her stuffed cat to the floor and hooking her arm around Li Jun for a huge body hug. Li Jun felt uncomfortable with her supposed cheerfulness.

"Hey. Nice to meet you after a long time. How is your health?" Li Jun looked past her at the apartment, entering as he looked at the interior.

When he returns his gaze to Daiyu, she is staring at him with an unidentifiable expression in her eyes. But not for long, since she smiled at him as she ran into a little room, her hair in a frenzy of curls and eagerness. "Wow, Li Jun!" she exclaims excitedly. "This area is fantastic. You have no idea how thrilled I was when I changed my surroundings. Taipei is a lovely place that has helped me relax."

Li Jun gave her a disinterested stare. Her unannounced arrival had enraged him and put him in a bad mood the day before. Li Jun snorted inwardly at her temperament after she disrupted his plan and now she's claiming to be calm.

But he remains... completely indifferent. That's the way it was meant to be. "Oh, I see how that affects you, Daiyu. I'm pleased it appealed to you. Come in and make yourself at home."

"Thank you, I will. Let me get you a glass of water." She said,

Li Jun headed to the seat as he unenthusiastically waited for the drink.

"Hey. Here is the water" She handed him the glass of water. "I know that you are angry with me and I should have informed you about me coming to meet you in Taiwan '' Here she goes with her smile. Batting her eyelashes and flashing her freshly lipsticked smile. The pink color choice is definitely bold.

Li Jun snorted at her attempt at apology. "Are you really sorry? Because what you did was dangerous and does not exhibit wisdom at all. You didn't tell my personnel that was assigned to be watching you that you were traveling, you didn't tell me that you were coming here. Chen Guang was not also informed. If anything happened to you on your way, what are you going to do, hmm?" Li Jun looked at her exasperatedly.

"Come, on Li Jun. I said I am sorry. There is no need to tell me off. I missed you but you are treating me like my health issue is so severe."

"It is severe, Daiyu. I was there when you almost died on me and it was not a pretty sight,"

"Aw, come on, I know. I just want to see you." She pouted and scrunched up her face at the same time in an attempt to quell the situation with her cuteness. "I ordered pizza. I ordered your favorite. Pepperoni " She winked and Li jun kept looking at her with an unsmiling face.

When the doorbell rings, she skidded to the door and paid the delivery guy, and brought the pizza box over to the small table.

Daiyu sat opposite Li Jun and her dyed blond curls have been set free from their contained ponytail, cascading wildly like a hypnotic Medusa. Her dress left nothing to the imagination but Li Jun went ahead and took a slice of pizza and ignored Daiyu and her state of dress.

Seeing Li Jun ignoring her, Daiyu pounces next to Li Jun on the couch with a childish exuberance and whips out her phone. " Can I take a picture of us or you are still picture phobic?" She asked him in a jovial manner.

Li Jun went all stiff and he later cleared his throat, trying to seem unaffected by her sudden question.

"No you can't take my Picture," Li Jun said to her seriously. She quickly lowered her phone at Li Jun's voice, tucking the phone away, leaning forward to grab a slice of pizza from the box.

At her quietness, Li Jun threw a quick glance at her before he squeezed his eyes shut. He felt like an asshole with his reaction but he didn't change his mind about her taking his picture, he turned in the other direction. Li Jun felt guilty for responding that way, but he can't exactly bend his rule because he wants to make her happy.

"Um . . . Daiyu?" Li Jun mumbled.

She looks up, clearly playing dumb. "What?" she asks, with a puppy-dog pout, feigning disinterest.

"I'm really not, nor will I ever be, in the mood for a sudden gesture of taking a picture. You know it. Don't let it happen again, okay?"

"Oh, come on, Li Jun. Seriously? You are supposed to be over it by now, I know you are doing it in honor of my sister, it's been years since her death but you should not let it rule your life. Live a little." She tugs at her dress sleeve, turning to him in a grimace. "We're all adults here. Right, Li Jun? You can make such an allowance for me. I saw some pictures albeit a few of them on the internet recently. You should---"

Li Jun looked at her, his eyes beaming glacier at Daiyu.

"Oh, Have you really let go of your past? Yes, we're definitely all adults. But you need to respect other people's decisions. Don't ever use your sister's death as an excuse to make me agree to your suggestions. I am here because I think your situation was due to my issues in the past but don't let it pass the boundary I have laid for you, okay?"He glared at her

She simultaneously tilts her head back while tossing strands of her unruly hair behind her back. The theatrical gesture is kinda villainous. "Don't worry, Li Jun. I won't pass the supposed boundary. We'll be just fine. okay."

Li Jun, on the other hand, was not convinced... at all. He sat there watching her eat her pizza while also standing up to get another bottle of water for them.
