Sharen spoke with Zograt for a while—the topic of their discussion a mystery to her. The Knight seemed to be very intent on pleasing Sharen and staying near him and Narene found that disturbing. Sharen had told her about her petition but she still found the Knight's behaviour hard.
Soon, she left, walking to stand over at another place but still near Sharen. Narene stood close by, watching Sharen. They were in Samak now but still at the boundary between Soti. This was where she was supposed to part ways with him.
But it hurt her. She didn't want to leave. She didn't want to return to Samak, it pained her that Sharen had made that decision for her.
She walked over and Sharen turned, noticing her presence. He glanced at her with firm eyes that seemed to reaffirm his earlier stand on the issue but Narene wasn't willing to back down. "I don't want to return to Samak."
