Chapter 20 - XIX

Leo's eyes followed Cora around the room as his wife was surrounded by her ladies, all giggling and whispering things that he couldn't quite catch, but made them blush profusely, and Leo couldn't help but wonder if he was the subject of their collective chit chatting. He was stopped from doing that, however, when his father walked to his side.

"I heard that her majesty requested another day of honeymoon," Edgar noticed. "She was feeling… indisposed."

Leo pressed his lips together. Oh, yes, she did. By the end of their four-day period of honeymoon, alone in their chambers, his little wife was sore and, according to herself, incapacitated. He had to be honest and say he didn't quite believe her at first, but when Cora had to go to the loo and was clearly limping, Leo had to admit he had been a little too eager with her.

"She couldn't walk," he confessed, giggling a bit.

Edgar's laughed was so loud he caught the attention of the people around them, but his father didn't seem to even care.

"You were always a very enthusiastic boy," he declared, clearly having a great amount of fun with the facts. "I hope she was at least happy and rested now?"

"Of course," he confirmed. "I… kissed her better."

What kind of husband would he be if he didn't kiss her better?

His father snorted and Leo glanced over to his wife, who now looked very focused on a conversation with the youngest Lady Dudley, Rosamund.

"You kissed her limping better?" his father questioned, humorous.

He chuckled.

"I'm not giving you details, father."

Edgar shook his head.

He had refrained from fucking her for the next two days, declaring they would spend the rest of the week recluse. He made his wife peak over and over again, with his fingers, lips and tongue, appeasing the heat of her little royal cunt, only giving in to put the tip inside when Cora begged for him to cum into her.

Leo had created a little hungry monster, and was very proud of himself for that.

"She seems to like you," Edgar declared. "Genuinely, I mean."

His eyes shot right to him, and his heart picked up in its pace, but Leo tried not to show it. All he wanted now was for Cora to love him as much as he already loved her.

"She is my wife," he answered, finally. "It's the least we should expect from her."

Edgar shook his head.

"You think you can lie to me, boy?" he asked. "That woman has you around her finger."

Leo felt his face red as a flush came over them.

"It's that a bad thing?"

Edgar grunted, giving him a wordless answer, eyeing Cora from across the room.

"I still don't trust her," he decided.

Leo shook his head, but his father was already leaving, and he just sighed, turning and crossing eyes with his wife, silently offering her a hand, a sign she quickly recognised and crossed the room, taking it quickly.

The King and Queen sat side by side in the throne room, surrounded by lords and guards, and he glanced over to her, making sure she was ready and comfortable for their morning duty of listening to the people's petitions, from the richest to the poorest.

It was their role to judge their cause and assign the best solution, be it further investigation of a hard positive or negative answer. It was a way to keep the King and Queen accessible for all Plaenian, showing they were there to serve them as much as they were served.

Cora nodded at Leo's silent question, reassuring him with a confident look, and he turned to speak to his father.

"Send in the first person, please."

. . .

It took them until the sun was down to have a silent moment alone together, away from the people, and Leo celebrated to himself that he was able to sit down with his wife to eat in peace.

"Do you think I'll start showing soon?" she asked, sipping on her wine.

Leo almost choked, staring at his wife.

"Showing what?"

Cora looked up at him in pure confusion, as if he had just asked her the craziest thing.

"The baby?" she asked. "I saw a woman pregnant before. The cook. I ever saw her baby!"

He was still not understanding her.

Baby? What baby?

"You think you are pregnant?" Leo asked slowly.

His wife frowned even more.

"Shouldn't I be?" she asked. "Well, it's been a week since we first… made love."

Her cheeks became red, adorable, but still sounding nonsensical.

Leo closed his eyes.

Oh, his sweet Coraline.

She was so clever in so many things that it made him forget she was completely isolated when growing up.

Up until the day he ascended to the throne, she had no experience with people. It was obvious she didn't know a lot about sex. It was no surprise Cora thought she was pregnant this soon.

"Sweetheart, uh..." he looked for words.

Oh goodness, he would have to be the one to explain it to her.

"Yes, Leo?" she asked.

He took in a deep breath.

"You know how you bleed every month?" he asked slowly.

Cora confirmed.

He set his glass aside.

"When..." he looked for words. "When you bleed, it means you are fertile."

His wife continued to watch him, and Leo could feel himself becoming redder and redder.

"When you get pregnant, you don't bleed," he spoke, trying to find the best words. "And that is how we discover if someone is pregnant."

Cora stared at him silently for a moment, eyes moving as she seemed to rationalise what he was talking about.

"But I haven't bled yet," she told him, looking quite disappointed.

"When does it usually happen?" he asked.

His wife's cheeks turned pink.

"In the new moon."

Cora pouted adorably, moving uncomfortable on her seat, and Leo reached out, covering her hand with his.

"What is it?"

"I don't want to wait that long!" she told him. "I want to know!"

Leo held himself back, trying not to laugh at her impatience.

Oh, she was the cutest.

"We'll have to wait," he said simply.

"Can't we know earlier?" Cora asked.

He cleared his throat, keeping his giggles inside.

"It's just a month, my love," he assured her.

But Cora pouted more.

"What what if I bleed?" she asked, looking distressed. "What if it takes longer?"

He raised her hand to his fingers.

"We'll try more," he said simply. "We have time, my love. We have been married for less than 10 days."

His wife looked down, defeated, and Leo stood up, kneeling in front of her and taking both her hands in his.

"Don't worry, Cora," he told her. "We will have many children, we just have to respect time."
