Paying no heed to Lucy's sullen expression, Lucas returned his attention to the fire symbol badge on his robe. "Is this supposed to be cool?" he mused aloud.
Lifting his head, he met Lucy's curious gaze. "What are you staring at?" she inquired, taken aback by his contemplative demeanor.
"Just hand me your robe," Lucas sighed, his tone exasperated. Was he really the type to harbor such perverted thoughts? After all, Lucy wasn't even wearing a skirt.
"Hand me my robe? Are you getting weird thoughts again?" She raised an eyebrow, skeptically handing over the white garment.
Taking the robe in his grasp, Lucas examined it closely. The texture of both their robes was remarkably smooth, inviting his touch. Though he was clueless about the material, he found it oddly satisfying.
Delving into the folds of the robe, he suddenly pulled out a badge. "Ah, there it is," he remarked, extracting the emblem and showing it to Lucy
Her confusion evident, Lucy questioned, "What is it?"
"This," Lucas responded, displaying the badge.
"And?" Lucy's puzzlement persisted. His enigmatic behavior often required more explanation.
"Both your robe and mine bear this badge," Lucas clarified, his excitement palpable. "Did you notice? It features the same symbol as the mythical creature we encountered in the level 8 dungeon."
Becoming accustomed to Lucas's analytical tendencies, Lucy settled down beside him. He made room for her as she joined him. "So... what's your take on it this time?" she inquired.
He shrugged slightly, making sure there was ample space for Lucy to sit comfortably. "This symbol is identical to the one on the class change scrolls. Don't you find that intriguing? There might be some significance to it. So far, none of the items the system has given us have been useless."
"I suppose you're right. But when did you examine the class change scrolls?" Lucy asked skeptically. She had never seen him do so; since leaving the dungeon, the scrolls had always been kept within Lucas's pouch.
"I checked them while you were asleep. It's not like I was trying to keep it a secret from you. I've just been genuinely curious about deciphering the languages on the scrolls. I happened to notice the symbol—it's quite distinct, being a depiction of a mythical creature," Lucas explained.
Hearing his response, Lucy let out a sigh. 'So... in this post-apocalyptic world, having an insatiable thirst for learning will always yield an advantage when it comes to gathering information?'
Gazing at Lucas, Lucy felt a profound sense of gratitude for having crossed paths with him. Without him, she might have succumbed to the challenges of this new world long ago.
"Lucas! Let's set that aside for now. We should examine the items. I know you're not as enthusiastic about superpowers as I am," Lucy urged, a mischievous grin on her face.
Witnessing Lucy's playful expression, Lucas conceded with a sigh, handing over the magnifying glass. He glanced at the stack of books beside her.
"Here you go. Do you think the system intends for us to study?" he questioned.
Lucy pondered for a moment before responding, "I'm not entirely sure, but if that's the case, I'm in trouble."
She was well aware of her now-average intelligence stats, a significant improvement from her previous embarrassing ones.
Beginning with the robe, she placed the magnifier over it, causing a string of words to appear.

Name: Snow Robe

Abilities:
[Snow Immunity]: (Passive)
[Ice Immunity]: (Passive)
[Cold Immunity]: (Passive)
[Decrease Fire Damage]: (50% Passive)

Lucy was left momentarily speechless by the description of the legendary item. She stared blankly at the words before looking back at Lucas.
"Lucas... doesn't this seem rather impractical for combat?" she remarked, her skepticism apparent.
"Yeah... Give it to me, I want to check mine too," Lucas replied, his concern growing that his own legendary item might be equally ineffective in combat. While immunity to specific elements was valuable, the abilities listed seemed more suited to a colder climate, not the tropical country they were in.
Positioning the magnifying glass over his robe with Lucy leaning in beside him, Lucas braced himself as he scanned the contents.

He couldn't help but feel a wave of disappointment wash over him. The legendary item in his possession seemed to be little more than a portable fire-resistant suit. The irony wasn't lost on him; his country lacked functional volcanoes, and the one he knew of had long turned into a lake.
Reluctantly passing the magnifier back to the giggling Lucy, he let out a sigh. Both of their legendary items appeared to be rather underwhelming for their country, known for its abundance of temples and spirituality.
The only place where these legendary items might be useful was perhaps in the country with the active volcano and the terrifying baseball-sized hailstorm. However, in their current location, these items held little value. Volcanic eruptions weren't a common occurrence, after all.
After her laughter had subsided, Lucy turned her attention back to the magnifier and examined the frost earring.

Rank: Rare
Abilities:
[Icicle]: Summon a Sharp Icicle to Strike the Target. (3 uses/day)

Her excitement was palpable as she shared her item's ability with Lucas. His mood also lifted as he saw her joy. He knew that his jian wouldn't come with any special ability; it was already an attack-focused item.
"You go ahead and check out the books first. I'll wait," Lucas suggested, gesturing toward the stack of books near Lucy.
Agreeing with a nod, Lucy calmed her elation and turned her attention to the five books before her. She used the magnifier to scan them, only to be met with disappointment once again.

A heavy sigh escaped her lips. Her emotions had certainly been on a rollercoaster ride throughout the day.
"Lucas, I'm with you on this one. The system must really dislike giving clear instructions or hints to players," she commented, her expression downtrodden.
Taking the magnifier from Lucy, Lucas checked his own set of books.

His bitterness was evident in his tone. Were there any improvements to their strength? Yes. Were these improvements related to their class items? No.
"I suppose we'll have to rely on achievement items and dungeon rewards for now," he stated with a hint of resignation. At the very least, they now possessed immune cloaks that held little practical value in their current situation.
Checking his phone, he noted the time was 8:27 p.m. A realization dawned on him; that's why it felt colder than usual.
"It seems like we'll be spending the night here," Lucas remarked, preparing for a night's rest in the class change building.
Seeing Lucy still downtrodden by the disappointment, Lucas tried to offer some comfort. "I guess so," she replied, her head resting on the cold floor.
Lucas reached into his pouch and handed her a bundle of rolled-up clothes. "Here, sleep on this," he suggested, placing some of the clothes on the floor to create a makeshift pillow.
As they both lay their heads on the cold and hard floor, Lucas sighed and opened his system profile, curious about his progress since he last checked.
"Opening system!"

"Now that we both have classes, don't you think the system profile looks more filled out?" Lucas remarked to Lucy.
Lucy was intrigued and decided to check her own profile as well.

"It really does seem fuller," Lucy noted, smiling at the list of achievements and items. She looked at the two rare ability items she possessed at the bottom of the list and gently fondled the earring on her left ear.
"Lucas, have you ever wondered what these items are made of?" she asked curiously.
Lucas, surprised by her question, replied, "Me? Why would I know?"
Flabbergasted by his response, Lucy persisted, "You really don't know? How is that even possible?"
With a hint of exasperation, Lucas admitted, "I genuinely don't know. I'm not particularly knowledgeable, and my guesses are mostly theories, without any solid evidence."
Hearing his honest answer, Lucy rolled her eyes playfully. "Well, your theories are usually pretty sound."
Lucas chuckled. "Yeah, but they're just theories. I'm not always right."
Lucy, feeling triumphant, said, "But they make sense, and that's what matters."
Lucas sighed playfully, conceding, "Alright, I'll give you that one."
With their banter lightening the mood, they settled in for the night in the class change building.
