As soon as she got in the train, she noticed that it had started raining. The door closed behind her while as she was looking for a place to sit. Melissa walked mindlessly to find only one seat left all the way in front of the train car. Her legs were monotonous walking towards the seat, moving themselves like a robot under command. "What a day…" she though. Tracing back the awful past hours in her head. Everything that had happen on that gloomy gray day.
Realizing that she was forgetting something, or better yet someone, she though that the day hasn't being that bad after all as her mind went directly to remember the tall black-haired man that she saw on the café. "Who was he?" although a certain felling of familiarity towards the mysterious man was lingering somewhere in her heart. His perfect features, his satin black hair dripping on his forehead, sensually covering his honey hazel eyes. She was sure she never had seen him again before but for some reason his inviting gaze and everything he represented right in front of her. Was like a known forgotten place. A place that she has somehow explored before. A place that she was part of, a familiar place, a place of comfort and calm.
Submerged in her thoughts, until she finally reached the seat all the way up front. It seemed that no one want it, or no one saw it. It was like that seat was waiting for her. Like it was specifically the seat that she should take in her way back to her house. As soon as she was about to sit down, she felt the presence again. Not the presence that she felt at her house though, this one was bone chilling and dreadful. Shivers ran through her back like a drop of cold water runs down to form a stalagmite. This time she definitely wanted to know once and for all what this feeling was about. A sharp pain invaded her head, and suddenly the lights on the train went out.
More chills ran through her, as it sat still, like frozen in time. She looked around. No one was screaming, no one seemed to notice that the lights on the train went off. But the train was still moving, the city was passing by she could see that. 'An electrical power perhaps. She could feel something behind her … or someone. Taking a deep breath and trying to compose herself she turned back her head, something was lurking behind her.
As soon as she turned her body completely. A hand close on her neck, lifting her above the ground. Her eyes widened and she was at the point to passing out. "What is going on? Am I dreaming again?". She looked around in panic, moving just her eyes, while holding the strangers' grasp that was locking her neck in place. With her two hands to find she reach out to the hand that was getting a hold of her. To find out in disbelieve that everything was normal around her. People were talking, listening to music with headphones on, even a little girl was crying complaining something about her being tired. The train was running normally. Every seemed normal, everything but this.
Melissa's head started pulsating furiously, it was too painful to bear, it was like her heart shot up to her brain. It felt like the lack of oxygen was making a bulge inside the right side of her head. The pain on her head, and her neck, was so strong, too strong that she started passing out closing her eyes. At the same moment the black figure grew closer to her face and started to articulate words that Melissa almost couldn't made up, her world was fading, escaping from reality.
The monster in front of her said with a terrifying voice that almost came out as a growl. "Looked at the face of the one that will kill you". The body attached to the hand that was choking her, took shaped as a horrendous beast. Its body covered in hair, as yellowed wild and ravenous eyes fixed on her. While its claws were sinking slowly into her flesh making it harder to breath every second. Its mouth wide and long like a snout, going upwards and finishing just before its pointy ears started giving it a twisted, abnormal appearance. His harp and yellowish teeth smiled while his words were coming out.
Standing on its hind legs and it was surely going for the kill. Lifting its claws to slashed her in two…or more. Melissa could not believe what was happening, she didn't have any other solution that accept her fate. She closed her eyes. Waiting for Thanatos to come and take her with him.
"What now?" she remembered Sonya's early question, her day started with a nightmare, and it will end with one. But this time she will not wake up from it.
"It's rude to bare your teeth to a lady, let alone threatened her or even...touch her". A velvety voice, low and seductive behind the beast spoke in a casual tone, but firmly and demanding at the same time. From Melissa's perspective she could see a shadow walking towards them.
"Oh, my did you come alone?" The tall man said while looking around only at the one in front of him. "I though you knew that you weren't t allowed to touch the lady". The beast turned around with Melissa still by the neck.
"I'll killed her... " The tall shadow moved fast and swiftly in less than a second, he was standing in front of Melissa and the beast, blocking her view.
"Is that right?" he asked, cutting the beast in two. "Melissa" he said almost in a purring tone while grabbing her by her waist, his other hand holding her head to ease her fall. He placed her carefully on the floor. People were still about their busines. Was she dreaming? But she could see them, him…clearly as water.
There he was. The mysterious man from the café. His face was pale, perfect, beautiful but gentle at the same time, warm and calm as a soothing tune. It looked like he was glimmered on the shadows, like a diamond under the sun, but there was no sun, it seemed like the rain clouds opened to him, she could see him perfectly like a sunbeam, like a light of hope against the goriness around them.
The perfection on his features had a god like feeling to them. He was the most perfect sculpture ever made; his raven satin hair opened like two black curtains covering his forehead while two red eyes were peaking behind it with much rage. A volcano about to erupt. She couldn't believe it, it was him! The was the guy from the café. She could feel his gaze, it was the same intense feeling drawing her towards him. The pounding in her head was too much to bear and she was slowly drifting away.
As he finished placing Melissa on the floor, he instructed. "Melissa listen to me, you are going to open your eyes, count to three and close them again. I'll let you know when to opened them. Ok?" he murmured. The velvet on his voice was like a blanket hugging and caressing her into the most beautiful trance. Following his instructions, still in disbelief of what she was witnessing. She opened her eyes, the unpleasant sight of the monster cut in half in front of her made her stomach cringe and revolt in disgust. She adverted her eyes to avoid the horrendous sight.
It was unreal. People were still sitting and standing, boarding, and debarking the train. Like they couldn't see what was happening, but it was happening right? She couldn't made up at this point was real and what wasn't. Her eyes widened in horror as she looked at more beasts were standing behind the mysterious man. "Now Melissa", he whispered in a caressing tone, while turning towards the creatures behind him. She did as instruct.
"I knew that he was not alone!" The mysterious man said in a mocking tone. Moving swiftly again slashing one by half and ripping the arms and legs of a second one. Grabbing another one with his bare hands by the top and bottom of its snout, and with no effort he it cracked open.
The sound of flesh ripping was so deafening that Melissa had to cover her ears to the point of fainting. "Stay with me Melissa" the velvet voice grabbed her again like the most beautiful sound, carrying her by her senses. The beasts were no match for him.
"Arghhh" he complained, in disgust. "I will have to burn these clothes when I get home". He said and ripped the head of another beast. At the same moment another one attacked him from the back kicking him out the window's train. A thunder rebound in the whole train shaking it to one side making the people shake with it, but they continued to go about their businesses, like nothing of the sort was happening.
Skillfully grabbing the frame of the window, he flipped around the top of the train, and enter from another window, like a cat landing gracefully behind the beast. The beast turned around to find him inside the train again its eyes looking confused, the mysterious man growled, "as always your kind disgust me" and slashed the beast by the middle, exposing its two sides divided on equal parts, while the insides were bursting out.
Going back to Melissa he said carefully crouching next to her. "Melissa it's me, don't open your eyes yet. Do I have your permission to carry you out of here?" Melissa still confused nodded her head. The train was still moving. She just wanted the nightmare to end, whatever was happening. She wanted to stop listening to those sounds the cries, the whimpering, and the ripping. "Open your eyes and look at me…look directly at my eyes" he said. Melissa did as instruct and her gaze meet his, her head was about to explode. She couldn't bare the pain anymore, his eyes were drowning her in a pool of fuzziness, everything was blurry and suddenly, she fell unconscious.
