Chapter 2
Grays's residence:
Felix didn't return home until very late that night. It seemed like he was drunk but he was still sober enough to hire a cab and find his way back home. Felix was impatiently banging at the door, he had his spare keys with him but it seemed like he wanted to cause a ruckus in midst of the silent and cold night. Mr.Gray opened the door, only to find his son in a miserable condition, he immediately reached out for him, but Felix shrugged his hands barely managing to stand still.
"Felix, is everything okay? come on let me help you...!" he grabbed Felix by his shoulder trying to support him. "I don't need your help. Leave me alone...." He forcefully slapped Mr.Gray's hand and rushed into his room slamming the door.
Felix was always a composed person, it was very rare for him to lose his cool, besides in the past he would never resolve to alcohol to drink away his sorrows. Dad knew something was wrong. But he decided to give Felix some time to come back to his senses. He stared at the closed door of Felix's room in silence with many thoughts rushing through his mind. He was worried but there was nothing he could do but give Felix some time.
The next morning Felix woke up and found himself sleeping till the clock hit noon. Just when he was about to get himself together, he felt a throbbing pain in his head. The pain was so intense that it felt like someone was drilling nails through his brain. He saw painkillers and a glass of water placed near the bed, on the cabinet. An image of his dad walking in his room, late at night, placing the meds while being on tiptoes, trying not to wake him up, flashed through Felix's mind, followed by a little smirk on the corner of his face.
Felix's childhood was not filled with colors and laughter. While his mom was pregnant with his sister Sera, she underwent many complications. Despite knowing the risks, she was stubborn with the decision of keeping the child. And as a result, due to excessive bleeding(hemorrhage ) during the labor, she died without getting to catch a glimpse of her daughter. With his dad always being busy with the company, a 7-year-old Felix was shouldered with the responsibility of his infant sister. He loved Sera more than anything but he would often get lost in the memories of his mother. But as years passed he could not grasp the face of his mother anymore, all he could see was her shadow, smiling and waving back at him. He would often look at her photos trying to drill her face into his memories. Soon what seemed like a sweet dream turned into a nightmare, the cheerful face once he ached to see changed into a face with no emotions, surrounded by the infinite domain of darkness.
And just when Felix was starting to do better in his life, he was hit with another nightmare disguised as his illness. He was lost in his thoughts when he heard the knock on his door. Before Felix could reply, the door opened, it was Sera. "Brovvvv! I guess you are still hungover from last night. You know dad was totally surprised yesterday, he was so worried that he barely had any wink of sleep. So tell me what happened? Pfft did you get dumped by someone?" Sera quick to read the room, it seemed like he had a lot on his plate. She decided not to pester him anymore. "Ahh! Why do you seem so depressed? Cheerup bro, you can't waste your weekend sulking around. Let's go shopping and watch a movie. I won't take no as an answer!" Sera was successful in dragging her brother out of his hibernation.
['Guess it won't hurt to enjoy the little time I have been left with...!' Felix sighed.]
