Chapter 5 - The monster awakens

The world had already gone through two "events" when they were first found, the Dungeons, long-forgotten places that were revitalized with monsters and an abundant amount of life energy.

The more they were explored the more secrets were found in them, artifacts, dungeon cores and monsters that ran the place like the boss, the famous dungeon masters.

No matter how much they were explored, there were questions that were never answered: Why did someone create them? Why didn't the monsters inside them come out? How did they get stronger with each fight? And what were the stones found in the monsters' bodies?

Most of the questions were answered over time, but there was one that no one ever solved and never dared to look too hard for.

Which god created them?

"I will heal you, but in return you will have to obey me, no, better yet, from today I will be your big brother and you will be my little brothers."

They kept staring at me, it's not like they were going to understand me. I'm not sure this will cure them, but it would be a stroke of luck if it worked and a little more than disappointing if it went wrong.

I went back to the previous room and with the axe I broke the life stone in half, it must be called a life stone for a reason, came back and handed each a piece and told them to eat it, and so they did.

At first there was no effect, but a few seconds later they both started convulsing and foaming at the mouth, but soon the lost arm started to recover and the leg came up again, it had worked.

There was something even more mysterious, their bodies became more muscular and stood a head taller than before, it seems that ingesting life stone has more effects than expected.

My guess came from the fact that feeling better when ingesting those slime core chips, if you take into account the fact that that's a bad formed life stone, the effects I felt when consuming them became a good bet.

Long was even more surprised than me, he looked at me expectantly, but I didn't have any more stone, so I just shook my head at him indicating that I didn't have any more, he was a little crestfallen, but accepted it.

A while later the two goblins woke up, Red kept opening and closing his hand and punching the air, while Blue sat staring at nothing.

"Let's go."

Actually only Long Neck understood my words, while the other two just followed me in a desperate way when they saw me leaving, I believe they were afraid I would abandon them, on the way I talked to the only person who understood me.

"How do you understand me?"

He looked me in the eye and with complete sincerity and replied.

"I am intelligent, that's all"

This intrigued me, I am speaking in my native language, the human language, and he a goblin who was born less than a month ago can already form complex sentences like he is fluent, I asked him a few more questions, like:

"How much is 2+2?"

"Tuo ?"

He doesn't know what numbers are, I believe it is because he has never been introduced to them, just like a newborn baby he learns by listening, the difference is that he learns at a much faster speed than an ordinary human.

The more I talked to him, the more his sentences became complex and he acquired a better diction when speaking, in the end the conclusion I reached, is that he is a genius with a super learning capacity.

As for Red and Blue, they both managed to repeat what I said, but did not speak their own sentences, a common learning ability, both seemed to be twins, their features were very similar, even to the degree acceptable for goblins.

Except for their eyes, both had all traits in common, even a birthmark on their necks in the shape of a circle with a dot in the center and two opposite ends.

As we talked I listened to the sound of running water with my good hearing and came to the obvious conclusion that we are underground, following a long and poorly lit stone corridor, hearing anything other than the sound of our footsteps was almost like winning the kingdom's lottery and getting rich very quickly.

On the way we find some more slimes that have been taken care of impeccably by Long Neck and his ability to throw stones, I pick the chips and eat them for points, although I don't know what they are for.

Being guided by the sound of water we arrived in a room very similar to the one where I found the Orc, for sure it was another Boss room, a dungeon was simple to understand, there are only two types of rooms, the rooms with strong monsters and those with traps or rewards.

Outside of this there are corridors that lead to the paths, in general a dungeon is something made to fight, win and become stronger, but in the end winning the final Boss always gives headache since he is many times stronger than a Boss.

The higher the level of the dungeon, the greater the rewards and the difficulty level of the monsters in it, as a human I work in all kinds of places, but in taverns there are always adventurers willing to tell their stories, and they almost always talked about dungeons or the frustration they encounter in them.

"Follow behind me"

As an older brother I had to take the risks instead of my little brothers, but as soon as I entered the room I felt a sense of relief that there was a group of goblins there.

They were not the goblins that came in here with us but monsters generated by the dungeon, creatures made to be defeated and judging by the note given to them they were incredibly weak, I felt a great relief.

In my mind the picture it showed was simple, I would run in a straight line and attack the one in the middle, then the one on the left would hit me in the head and I would die right there, but I was not alone, so it would be easy to take care of them.

"Red, Blue, come with me, I'll deal with the one in the middle and you take care of the ones that come after"

Of course they didn't understand, so I pointed to the ones they should take care of and they nodded, I believe they know what they should do.

"Long, you take what's left"

There was an unfounded confidence growing in my chest, I was not alone, I believe this gave me confidence, or who knows maybe having received the essence of a god changed me on some level, but I certainly felt I was capable of doing this.

I ran forward looking into the eyes of my target, he seemed to understand, for he also ran toward me, in his right hand was a dagger and in his left a small circular shield.

In my head the movie was being updated in real time just as it was in the fight against the Orc, he would try to cut my head off with a simple movement of the dagger, a movement that I easily dodged since I knew where it was coming from.

With each movement that I dodged, my mind became clearer and more euphoria rose in my chest, my hands became lighter and with total ease my clenched fist found the goblin's chin.

Not enough, my knee hit its belly, and as it bowed out of breath my fist found a path to its face, the creature had already surrendered, but I still continued to hit it.

Again and again, for a few seconds my world turned red, or maybe I was just looking at my fists, it didn't matter, because I kept punching the creature's face until there was no target left to punch.

Wiping the blood from my hands I stood up and looked around, it was then that I realized that everyone was standing still and looking at me and for some reason a great fury ignited in me, a completely homicidal fury.

"Aren't you guys done yet?"
