Chapter 3 - Shikadai, the emperor

Once he was properly shackled, the samurai led him to the corridor leading to where the emperor was at the time. When they entered the corridor, the gate was so massive that they had to gaze up to see the highest point of it.

"All this for one person is excessive," Kirito thought

"Let me remind you he is an emperor, so he knows the mysteries of the world you don't know. It is quite normal for such a monumental figure to have so many treasuries" The samurai said

"What did he accomplish to be awarded such a reputation? Kirito asked the samurai, " the only person I worship, is the one and only lord, our father in the heavens..."

"Shut that mouth of yours you wretched fool. Do you want to die before the audience has even begun? All emperors have finely tuned senses, so they can hear discussions from great distances. I hope for you that what you said did not reach his ears."

Kirito understood that he could get sued for what he said, so he chose to shut up. The londal opened the massive gate, and there were at least 50 nobles with elegant clothes sitting on their seats and gazing at Kirito as if he were a very dangerous person.

"So many nobles in one room, so the crime I am charged for is the gravest of all" Kirito whispered

"Indeed it is..." a mysterious voice said

Kirito then turned to face a very dignified and glamorous noble. His posture when sitting was one of a cocky person who thinks he is on top of everyone. Kirito realized right then and there that he was the one... He was the emperor Shikadai.

"Kneel you, dirty peasant." the samurai whispered to Kirito

Kirito kneeled without any hesitation in fear of awaking his wrath.

"You may stand..." the emperor said in the most disinterested voice, "So, though I do not deal with cases such as this. I would most likely get you executed, however, the samurais claim you deny the fact you committed the crime and cried sorry to your mother because you failed her

"My lord, I speak only the truth when I tell you that I did not kill that man on the street. I was only caught in the middle of it in the attempt to help him, just to find out that he was already dead." Kirito said with his head down

"If what you say is true, why is it that you attempted a very risky escape to flee the city?" the emperor asked with his eyes dilated as if he smoked before coming.

"My lord, the samurai are vicious and would never let me any time to explain the situation such as you generously are doing at the moment," Kirito replied

"Do you mean the Samurai are incompetent?"

There was a great pass before Kirito answered, but he eventually nodded his head.

Following that remark, there began to be a very large conversation amongst the nobles, and it was difficult to listen to any of them due to the amount of noise coming from each section of the room. Kirito, on the other hand, was too afraid to lift his head and stand up after that response, so he remained to kneel before the emperor.

"Enough noise..." *the emperor said nonchalantly "anyways, I feel you speak the truth and that you did not kill the man. So you are judged to be non-guilty."

The noise became even more intense after that decision

Kirito who couldn't believe his luck could not help but just smile with joy while still bowing to the deity.

"However, I heard in the hallway you said I did not accomplish anything to deserve so many treasuries." the emperor said

Kirito who realized in what danger he put himself answered immediately, "My lord is was just a misu-"

"Be quiet when I speak!" the emperor shouted in a menacing tone.

At that very moment, Kirito was scared. He was scared the emperor would freeze him.

"I also heard you are very close to your mother *smirks* Bring it."

Suddenly, a samurai appeared with a large bag and hurled it at Kirito. What he witnessed inside was something that no person should have to go through. His mother's head rolled out of the bag and in front of him. Despite having her head chopped off, she still maintained that sweet grin that always reassured everyone that everything would be ok.

Cretus's aversion to Shikadai had evolved to rage. Cretus tried to sprint towards Martris, but the samurai stopped him and threw him on the ground to keep him from moving.

"What did you do to my mother you fucking bastard." Kirito shouted out while on the ground "How could you do that to someone who had nothing to do in this situation! I will kill you for what you've done! I swear I will hunt you down and I will kill you!"

While he was cursing the emperor, he told the samurai to take him away and put him back in the cell.

Kirito was denied food for a week, so he supplemented his diet with raw rat flesh and drank from the leak in the brick ceiling.

After another week of living in deplorable conditions, two Samurais burst into his cell and hurled a bucket of cold water at him. This jolted him awake, but he was too exhausted to resist them. They carried him outside and to the Gate that leads out of the village, where they strapped him to a donkey and connected him from every side to ensure he couldn't escape. They then smacked the donkey on the back, and he bolted. He had spent hours on the donkey, but he was too weak to try to detach himself from it.

Suddenly, he arrived at a little farm where the donkey discovered some berries. The donkey began eating the berries, but the farm's owner, who looked to be a woman, arrived and spotted the donkey. She was a stunning woman with black hair, brown eyes, and a cotton tulle gown. When she approached the donkey to make it move, she noticed someone atop it.

She dashed over to the Cretus and untied him. He then placed him in bed and wrapped warm twelves around his legs, arms, and forehead.

She subsequently prepared clothing for him to wear and food for him to consume when he awoke from his slumber.
