Chapter 41 - Elsewhere 3:  Ganjini: Lamentations

Time momentarily became apathetic to its nature, David felt a surge of essence extracting from his body into Fayola's. it left his body and imprinted in her, making him momentarily weak. In an instant, they saw each others past, circumstances, emotions, weaknesses and strengths.  The essence was thus great that Fayola bellowed as she abruptly opened her eyes, which, were now blazing golden, like those of David's, her new patron.

David's essences returned to him, along with Fayola's, making him even stronger, nimbler, swifter than before, even for his gigantic size. "whoa", she exhaled.

"they are splitting", she said, well, this time she didn't need to verbalize her thoughts, Fayola was a Bond Odum to an Apex Tau. "the programmers know that we found a loophole", replied David.

As they drew closer to the blinding light, the very aspect of reality became surreal. David bit the rear of the glitching Lamentus as they faded into the distinct vague. David's mind began to explode, a million things were going on. For one, he could hear sirens and footsteps rushing close. Secondly, he could hear irritating voices that were a lot closer to Fayola. Lastly, he knew Fayola was far from him. he had to find her first before anything else.

David had done the one thing he stressed never to do and that is Odum-bonding. He was now Fayola's surety, which meant, her life was now his responsibility.

Fayola woke up abruptly from a cold steel base that was supposed to be some sort of bed. Her body was injected with tubing on all limbs and the back of her neck. She launched herself up and was greeted by her reflection, "how?", she choked. She examined her facial features. She had not aged for the past fifteen years, a technical glitch in the system that oversaw the inmates.

Talk about beauty, imagine waking up from a fifteen-year slumber, only to not have aged.  Fayola in a daze examined her chunky gorgeous face, still in its youthful golden undertone and her dreadlocks, more like; dope-locks, were rich and black. I should spend another fifteen years in Ganjini, she thought to herself. "huh, move", David channelled his thoughts to her. Ah! now I have a teenager as a boss, she thought. "I can still hear you", "alright, alright", she sighed.

She moved swiftly past the other bodies, she now, crouched against the door, taking in everything that was happening on the other side.  She knew how to use her powers as a bonded Odum, however, she only realised the magnitude of her strength as a bonded Odum to an Apex Tau after breaking the door with a Spartan kick, taking down a dozen security guards and lifting a stone wall weighing at least a ton.

David and Fayola bumped into each other at a junction, she fell on top of him, their eyes locking momentarily.  This is rather nice, Fayola thought as she gazed into his eyes. "you killing time", that was David's way of ruining the moment. What a party pooper! Fayola frowned as she stood up. "you look much younger", bewildered David. "I was seventeen years old when I was arrested", she sighed. "what? You were like, two", she laughed. "three, which technically makes me older than you, so stop bragging", David said indistinctively.

They ran following traces and scents, now and then, David would rest his hands on a wall, specifically on turns, to get a mapping of the facility. "look over there", she bellowed. It was their way out, at least out of the facility.

They fought their way through, in synch, Fayola could mimic David's fighting skills, this made her pugnacious. "is that all you got", bellowed Fayola as she noticed that they were the only ones standing.  Four dozen troops fully armed rushed in from all entrances. "you really had to ask", David sighed. To their bewilderment, the double doors in front of them opened, revealing one man.

The man flicked a finger and all weapons were pointed at Fayola, "I know your bond is still fresh but can you imagine the damage it will do to you if all these ammo are released on her", he smiled whilst stretching his hands theatrically. David didn't reply, this made Fayola nervous as she could feel David's uneasiness.  "your highness, whose he", her voice sounded brittle. "that is Milton Oyeiga", David replied tautly.

Milton Oyeiga smiled mirthlessly, "He's the person who is called when dealing with a catastrophe. He is usually on our side", David frowned. "David", he started, "Milton", David returned the greeting.  "I'm surprised that we have to meet at such circumstances", he sighed sympathetically but his smirk was rather hostile. David could have taken all of them at once, but now he had a Landi, his first beta. He couldn't afford to lose her, not now that he needed him. David had become an instant father figure, and he didn't even know what to do next.

"it looks like the odds are favourable, well, for me", he smiled. "so what will it be Son of Kufu", he paused, "surrender or risk losing your first Landi. That will physically and spiritually wound you. The torture might kill you", he sighed falsely.

It could have been anyone, except for Milton Oyeiga. He was the most resourceful Special Ops David knew. There was only one like Milton, no other Kink ever reached the training that he had. He wasn't powerful enough to take on an Apex Tau, nevertheless, because of his ingenious wits, Milton knew the physical and spiritual damage that would afflict David, if he killed Fayola right on the spot. David also knew that with all the artillery pointed at Fayola, he wouldn't be quick enough to shield her.

"Your highness, we are in this together", Fayola channelled her thoughts to him. She willingly pledged her allegiance to him, a final stage of their bonding.  This didn't make David stronger than he already was. Her allegiance gave him the confidence he needed for what he was about to do next.
