Back to the present, Mark silently stayed with Song Yue without disturbing her sleep, until her mother returned from the kitchen with a ladle in her hand, wearing an apron.
"Oh, Xiao Lu, when did you arrive?" She seemed surprised and couldn't control her voice for a second.
"Ah, just now…" Mark got up and greeted her with a bow, "Mother-in-law."
"Hmm…" Song Yue furrowed her brows in her sleep, looking like her sleep was disturbed.
"Sshhh." Chen Xiao put her finger on her lips and then gestured to her outside the room, not intending to disturb her daughter's sleep.
As they walked into the living room on the first floor and took their seats, she asked, "So, how's your meeting gone?"
Mark let out a sigh as he shook his head, "Not positively. The Cabinet's resolution was overthrown by Shang Zexi. The others don't also seem to be in favor. It looks like it is going to be a bumpy road for Shang Wei."
