Chapter 46 - Demon Tale 2

"Ohh I caught a prey? My..My...By his appearance, it seemed to be the first to have caught the traces of that thing, he should be a child from the village nearby.

"Oh… I could make use of him, nevertheless. It's should not be too bad to gather children on the lowest level of the social hierarchy and the format of their organizations, if his majesty experiments become a success."

The male voice said, with a whisper as though expecting a reply that never came.

"This should be where the meteor landed… Dammit!…"

Since it was already nighttime. The moonlight hue fell through the treetops, and the dark forest whistled with cold winds. The temperature seemed to be falling as time passes, meanwhile Levi couldn't help but wrap his arms around himself, which brought him a slight sensation of slight warmth to his cold shoulders.

The fear of the unknown, as well as the darkness surrounding the forest, left him quivering, with his heart pace increasing as he walked deeper.

Suddenly series of birdcalls was heard from the treetops, which immediately caused Levi to yelp from being startled as he made a jump like a cat that had its tail stepped on.

"Who is it! Who's there?!"

His sharp childish voice instead alarmed a few more black crows, in the sky.

"Hah…" Levi realize his heart pace was beating unusually fast as it ever could, to the point that it might even ram its way out from his chest.

His hands were now clasped together as he prayed inwardly, to his late mother who was a devotee of the gods of their land, to protect and guide him from the hands of any evil person.

After praying Levi became a bit courageous, his hands were shaking slightly as he walked and pushed the grasses aside, but his footsteps were firm as he walked deeper into the forest.

"Nothing… there's nothing at all other than a huge charred pit!"

Barely a few minutes later, Levi's disappointed voice was heard as his sight kept on scanning his environment taking note of everything he could see, he felt a little sad and was a bit unwilling to go back even though he saw nothing.

However, he still kept rummaging through the area again, in his hope of discovering something while he mumbled to himself, "How can there be nothing? Where's the legendary weapon? Magic item? Or artifact, even a few golds or silver would do…"

"Interesting... What a child, for piquing my my interest I shall use you, and ruin your foolish dream!" The figure was unusually happy and soon concluded.

"Surely, let Daddy make use of you, my dear!"

With this thought, threads of light shone from the sides of the broken sword, exceptionally. Making it glow quite obvious in the pitch-black night.

As expected Levi's attention was drawn to the exceptional brilliance, of his trick. After observing Levi's excited expression, its dark face cranked up a creepy smile, except for his entire expression.

Levi's eyes seemed to have brightened up as he arrived before the broken sword from earlier.

He expended much effort, disregarding the moist ground as he kept pushing aside the soil and rocks, using his bare hands to run his hands over the sword, allowing it to see the light of day again.

"The rays seemed to have been emitted from this sword…" Levi thought out loud a bit unsure, as the more he observed the rusted sword as well as the signs of corrosion on the hilt, he was less and less sure of his thoughts.

However, he thought to himself even if this broken sword wasn't any magical artifact, it was still very attractive to him.

After all, his passion for weapons was more than just hearing it from tales, and was more from the depths of his heart, especially for the likes of magic and fantasies.

"Mm! Blacksmith Uncle could buy it. This is worth at least five coppers! No, ten!"

Levi held on to the broken sword in satisfaction, as he made assumptions from the heaviness of the sword, which made him feel extremely pleased and was sure it would be worth more than he thought.

The sword was only half its original length and was much lighter, but Levi's few attempts at swinging a couple of moves, made him rather bewildered and disappointed at failing to do so.

"Hmmm! I've made my decision. Even if blacksmith Uncle gives me five or even ten coppers, I won't sell this!"

Levi nodded in approval of himself and kept his new sword well in by the side of his pants, humming happy rhymes as he walked back to his village.

The moment he arrived home, the price of exploring on his own was being taught a lesson by his papa beatings, and his siblings' worries over him, after which was also given a stern warning not to enter the forest on his own again.

Levi was inwardly happy, so he nodded absentmindedly. At this moment his ass felt like a hero successfully returning from a great battle, he carefully kept the sword from the rest of his adventurer items even moreso hiddenly amongst them. If not, he was quite sure that his papa might definitely sell off his sword and turn it into a few cups of cheap liquor mixed with babes, pouring into his stomach and also his 'Little brother'.

However, this was a major fact in Levi's life to achieve something more than just a woodcutter but something more useful.

So, how could he let his papa squander away his life game-changer? This was something he couldn't allow, even if the person was his papa, Levi thought himself as he made his decision.

With this thought in mind, Levi sneaked back into the house contentedly, as he entered into his favorite dreamland daydreaming about being a rich merchant and a valiant hero.

Meanwhile, the darkness clouding the outside world never once stopped. However, it changed by their arrival.
