Chapter 36 - Unexpected Discovery

But this... Christopher drew a gasp as many helpless and confused guesses surfaced in his mind.

For now, he thought it was best not to touch them, he was trying so hard to refrain himself from doing rash, that might possibly affect his family or himself.

However, they would be reported to the village head to handle such a deadly matter, with an extremely severe punishment so that such an event will never occur ever again.

"Is it because he was born as their self-acclaimed greatest enemy so-called 'demon' child?

"Has he ever hurt them in any way? Was it his fault to be born that way? How can they act so heartless to treat an innocent child like this?

"What had my poor innocent child done to deserve such ill will from a bunch of villagers?" Christy said as tears slowly garner at the corner of her eyes.

Christopher felt his heartache, he felt rather depressed about everything, he hated the villagers and their guts too.

No matter what they did, they were always treated unfairly and bullied time after time.

He would have been able to bear their grudges, hate, and hostility if the entire village treated him like this. But when it was to the people that he loved so much and cherish, it he wouldn't bear or take it lying down.

He couldn't blame his child, since the kind of society they lived in, was shaped and messed up by strange beliefs.

He couldn't even understand why they would believe such tales and lies while being cold-hearted enough to treat badly an innocent child no different from a normal baby?

After they had taken care of what needed to be done, Tim who had earlier lost consciousness was woken up, but what was unexpected was that after waking up all he did was freak out for the first minutes on Tobi. As he kept on accusing Tobi of being a misfortune, however, that only spell a resounding slap on his face from the angry Christopher.

And when Christy tried to correct him, he forcefully shove away her hands from touching him, with much harsher words,

"Don't you dare touch me! Or even call him my brother, his nothing but a four-eyes leech, trying to suck away life and my happiness!"

This made Christopher and Christy extremely disappointed, they already had heard several suspicions words from Ada and Belle complaining about him and Tobi.

However, only until now did they believe and realize how awkward their relationship was, whenever he would feed him, Tobi was always hungry than usual. Now they could feel a hint of malice.

Which they needed to do something about so that he could amend his ways. The next day Christopher called everyone over and made a few announcements, including Christy taking over the task of feeding Tobi, and Tim taking over her shift to serve as confinement.

After that day, Tobi was hardly left alone. With the fear of the previous incident clouding their minds, Christopher, Christy, and Ada would rarely live his side. And even if they did, Ada or Belle would stay over to watch him.

Eventually, they also gave him a generous amount of pepper soup and milk, to serve as compensation with that Tobi could finally pay attention as to what had happened.

With the system interface opened in front of him, Tobi wanted to check his S, B, T first, when he realized what was unusual about his attributes panel.

Tobi squinted his eyes, as he stared at everything else within the attributes panel. Although he was confused, he slowly realized something, after staring at Mana ten seconds later.

He was sure that the Mana which had shown, 12.5 earlier seemed to have recovered back to 13 attributes points.

Tobi was a bit surprised, he remembered the weird feeling he felt from his Mana core when he was experiencing that strange excruciating pain.

Within the past few days, he had checked the earlier notifications and realized at that moment of danger, he had somehow subconsciously activated 'Demon Intimidation'.

Though he wasn't sure how he did it, he knew the system must have somehow had reacted to what it might have seen as a threat to his host life.

When he realized this fact, Tobi could be said to be grateful toward the system, since it was the first time it had done something for his sake.

However, there were far too many things, for him to precisely recall head or tail of what happened, but he knew the energy he felt through his body made him feel overpowered.

He had only felt like that only a couple of times, and that was mostly only after owning the system.

But that day it was different, instead of the rush of adrenaline flowing through his body, it had instead gone towards his head and then his eyes. He guesses that was why, he felt so much pain coming from his eyes, it was real power, a unique Mana that had coursed from his Mana core through every inch of his eyes.

So, when the feeling started fading away, he could not recall or stop it.

But after seeing his Mana attributes points, recovering he realized the activation of 'Demon Intimidation' might have cost nearly, 13 attributes points to activate the ability.

And most importantly, the amount of attributes points he owns may or may not correspond to the amount of Mana in his Mana core.

Which meant the only way, to find out was to go through a similar phase and feeling like before, even though he knew this, Tobi was more or less undecided about testing it again, especially since there was no one fit enough to be his lab rat.

Secondly, the hellish torture he would have to go through again, after activating the ability, made him a bit scared.

Unless, he could skip the pain part, which was unlikely.

With this thought in mind, Tobi spent the next few days thinking. He could not activate the ability again, due his eyes felt a bit sore, but he could still feel that by grasping the control of his Mana core and Mana, he wouldn't need to go through such pain to activate 'Demon Intimidation' again.
