The L. One of the oldest, if not The Oldest, city of the Coalition of Great Britain and the Colonies. Vaguely famous and densely populated, it's located in the coastal part of the southern British Isles. It's popular and quite infamous among tourists, perhaps it's because of the pleasant, warm climate with mild winters. Maybe, because of the picturesque seafront, alas it is covered either in the dense, lazy fog or in the smog of the ancient industrial area.
And, on one of the featureless streets of this city exists an old, but properly maintained apartment building with the number XX.
In this building, there's a shoddy-looking, small flat with only 2 current residents.
In one of the bedrooms of this flat, there's a 2X years old male.
Suddenly, there's a sound. The sound is a scream, a male scream.
10 seconds passed until a young male could calm himself down after this long night of nightmares.
"Calm down, it's nothing more than just silly nightmares...", Jack muttered to himself.
Although he said that, it didn't help him much. He can't remember it very clearly, only some fractions of it, but one feeling just can't let him go, even after his awakening. It's a feeling of someone's glaze on your back, penetrating to the very core. Someone, though, who has no right to be someone, only something.
Sudden knocking on the door of Jack's room spooked him for a second.
"Jack, are you okay? I heard your screaming!", said Elijah, brother of Jack, standing on the other side of the door.
"Y... y... yes, I am okay! Just give me 20 minutes to wake up, and I will eat breakfast with you!" answered Jack.
The time was 8.16 am. At this time Elijah is having breakfast, so to Jack it was apparent that he would offer to have breakfast with him.
"Okay, but if you have problems, your brother is always here.", said Elijah and went away.
Sounds of his steps going to the kitchen.
"Uh...", with a tired sigh, Jack starts his morning routine.
After 20 minutes, Jack came to the kitchen.
"Jack, I have to go. I got a call from work. Breakfast is ready. I have already eaten.", said Elijah while standing at the exit.
With the sound of a closing door, the flat once again returns to the silent.
Jack sat at the table to eat the still hot meal. He turned on the television to dispel the unnerving silence.
On TV, they're a news outlet.
"Good morning citizens. You're listening to the morning news, and I am your host, Nick Nicholas..."
Nothing new on the news, business as usual - possibility of war conflict with the Norman-European Block at the borders of the northern colonies, some tourists went missing in the port, political debates about the future of "our proud nation"
Jack eats his meal while listening to news and planning his day. After the meal, Jack starts washing the dishes. Listening ending phrase of news
"Okay it's all news at this moment and remember, citizens,
"Sanity is not statistical!"
Dzz...Dzz...Dzz...
Strange sounds run through the kitchen, it's a Jack phone.
Jack answers the call, it's his girlfriend Lily.
"They're you? We planned to meet." with angry roar said Lily
"Sorry, my bad. I haven't slept well lately... "
"But you still could have notified me beforehand! And right now I am, like a full idiot, waiting for you. We planned this long ago!"
"Sorry, Sorry, my brother called me to help him! I need to go!"
"Sorry your ass! Next time we meet, I promise, I'll beat you senseless!"
Suddenly, she hung up.
