When Alexander check on the mission board, he saw a new quest which is in line on what he would be doing for today and readily accepted the quest and he was also curious about the 'Treaure Vault' reward.
He made his way in the dining hall of the inn and saw the kids and Candice who are already eating. Lulu saw Alexander and immediately jump off of her seat and run towards to Alexander and hug his thighs. "Big brother! Let's eat! Lulu is hungry and been waiting for you." Said by Lulu while acting cute. Alexander patted Lulu's head and carried the child back to her seat and sit beside her. "Let's eat guys!" Alexander said. The children started eating as well as Candice and Alexander.
After the hearty breakfast, Alexander discuss their plan for today. "Candice, please gather information around the city. Information about the war, the situation of the fortress, prices in the market and what are the hottest commodity in this city." Candice nodded. "Hector, you will go with Candice and protect her." Alexander instructed. "Yes Master!" Hector affirmed. "You kids, you will go with me to go to the guild to get the permit." Kratos nodded. "Yes Big Brother!" Lulu cheered while holding a spoon and then continue eating. Alexander smiles and after the meal, they go on their separate ways.
At the Knight's Order barracks at the Captain's office, "Captain, vice captain Kirk is looking for you." Said by one of the knight on the other side of the door. "Come in." An old and gruff voice sounded behind the door. The door opens and Kirk proceed with a salute of putting his right hand onto his chest and bows. "Captain! I have something to report." Said Kirk. The captain only nodded and Kirk continues, "the Blood Omens from the Scarlet King of Unholy empire are starting to move again." The Knight captain frown as he listen to the report.
"There are also rumors about their sightings in the nearby villages and some has reported missing children and young men and women." The knight captain clenches his fist "Vice captain Kirk, i want you to personally investigate this sightings and missing villagers and if its really related to Blood Omen, report back to me immediately." A flash of killing intent can be seen on the Knight Captain's eyes. "Yes sir!" Kirk salutes and proceed with the investigation. After Kirk left, the Knight Captain remove his helmet and reveal a rough middle aged man with white eyes like of those blind men and a cold aura was release. "Blood Omens." The Knight Captain sat on his chair and continue with his work.
Alexander and the kids roams around the city as they make their way to the guild. At the bustling road that full of stall at the side, a very large building revealed itself. "Ho~ so this is the Mercantile Guild?" As Alexander size up the guild building.
The Mercantile Guild building is just a simple establishment but exudes with elegance and wealth. The building is a dome like infrastructure with green roof and gold door. The 'Mercantile' character that is written at the top of the door is releasing a mysterious aura that Alexander felt that it was carved by a very strong individual.
As the group enters the building, they were surprised on what they saw. Inside the building, merchants from all over the empire, local or foreign is here. There is no discrimination whether your a human, a halfling or a demon in the merchat guild. Alexander and the kids made their way to the front dest.
"Good day our dear guest! Are you here to purchase item? Or perhaps to sell some or are you here to register as a merchant?" The receptionist greets Alexander. "Oh, you purchase items here as well?" Ask by Alexander. "Yes we do! We also have a weekly and monthly auction event here at the guild. If you have something to sell, it would be best to submit it 5 days from now since the weekly auction was just finished and the monthly auction will happen, 5 days from now." Explained by the receptionist.
Alexander did a stroking gesture below his chin acting like an oldman with a long beard. Lulu saw this and giggles "Big brother! Your acting like an old man again." Alexander smiled and pats her hair "this little one is really cute! Ha~ so innocent." Alexander thought. "Alright miss, I'll think about the auction, for now, I would like to register as a merchant." The receptionist nodded and bring out a big book with ink and quill "Alright sir, we just need your full name, age, affiliation and what type of merchant would you like to be." Said by the receptionist.
In this world, there are 3 types of merchant. The first one is the 'Specialty Merchant' meaning these type of merchant specialize on a certain product like the pill pavilion who deals with medecine products. The next one is the 'Travelling Merchant', by its name, these type of merchants travels alot and most of them sells mysterious products that they might have encounter on their travels hence, these merchants usually around Red rankers and above. Last but not the least, the Hall Merchant. The hall merchant, unlike the travelling merchant are usually more common that even mortal rankers can be certified. They are the ones who usually have shops around the city, the downside of this type of merchant is that they don't specialize on certain products and more than usual, their products are inferior to the ones that specialize on certain types of products. The only advantage of this type is its easier to pass the exam for this permit than the others.
"Alexander Mcdowell, I'm going to be 17 this year and i don't have any affiliation. I want to get a permit for Hall Merchant." Explained by Alexander. The receptionist wrote it on the book and the book suddenly glow with golden light. "I have registered your name Mr. Alexander on our ledger. Would you like to take the exam now or would you like to skip it just for an additional fee." The receptionist said. "You can do that?!" Alexander was shocked. "Yes Mr. Alexander, as being a hall merchant, what you just need is to be good in arithmetic and have an eye for people and I believe Mr. Alexander already have this traits." Explained by the receptionist. Alexander riases his brow and asked "How much would be the additional fee?" The receptionist smiled and brought out a scribe paper "this mr. Alexander is the contract, you just need to settle 150 gold every two months to renew the contract and additional 50 gold for you to skip the exam which a total of 200 gold needs to be settle today." The receptionist hand over the contract to Alexander.
Alexander read the contract and as he read it, he found thay is just a normal contract. No disadvantage but alot of advantage like there is a certain clause that depending on the product that i am selling, they would provide me two free guards to guard the shop. The highest guard they can provide is early peak red ranker or in some special cases, a peak bronze ranker. After reading, Alexander signed the contract and hand over it with small bag of gold coins to the receptionist.
After counting the gold, the receptionist put thr contract on thr platform behind her and suddenly the contract shone with gold light and disappear. "The process is all done Mr. Alexander and i will be your direct point of contact here at Merchant Guild. My name is Aster Velli and here's your Merchant badge." Aster give the badge to Alexander and continue "Please take care of that badge as to get a replace, you would need to pay 500 gold coins for the first replacement and it will double the price every time you replace it." Alexander nodded and take the badge. "Mr. Alexander I forgot to mention, you can actually contact the guild through the badge by putting your elemental energy on it." Aster further explained. "Neat! Thank you Aster!" Alexander smiled and make his way out of the building.
