Tink...Tink. The sound of a windy morning causing the branches of a tree to tap on the window of an old wooden house sitting in the middle of the road. Noticeably, the house was bigger and older than the other houses around it, and with a larger yard than any other house near it. Gave the house a more dominating appearance, than the other house with its massive double doors with the words "LYLA" embossed on them. Inside the house, is a modest family of 7, sitting around an oblong table. Two sets of elderly couples, a young couple, and a young lady. Sitting at the point of the table was the male of the young couple with the two young ladies sitting next to him, with the two sets of elder couples sitting opposite them. The family was eating breakfast and discussing what they were going to do that day. Father Lyla was the first to leave, followed by Mother Lyla. As Jenny got up from the table to start cleaning, the Grandparents Lyla sat down and turned on the news. " At the top of the seven a.m. hours, a police chase ended with the suspect hiding out in the old Ashbury Orphanage that just recently closed down". Jenny perked upon hearing the newscaster. "The suspect is said to be a thirty-year-old male with blonde hair and a tattoo across his upper back. He was wearing a black suit with a red undershirt and black pants and shoes". Jenny giggled at the cliched description. " The chase started after the police were called on to the scene by multiple civilians giving the suspect description and saying he was threatening for information about a cursed building". As the news segment continued on, Jenny gathered her things and went to the door. As she opened the door and left, she said goodbye to her grandparents. She walked around the large house to the right side to grab her bike at the base of a tree. As she got onto her bike she heard the tapping on the window from the wind. She snickered as she pushed off the ground and started to pedal away, "always keeping me up at night". Half an hour bike ride later happened upon the news crew she was listening to. Cars passing back and forth, police slowing them down once they pass the monster of a building that was once Ashbury Orphanage. Staring at the large building that went from the city's large public library to a privately owned orphanage, Jenny got a cold chill down her spine as the wind started to whip up again. She pushed off again and finished her bike ride to her school. Her school day was filled with the news making it more pleasurable than normal with all the paranormal gossip around the suspect. At the end of the school day, Jenny retraced her path from this morning and returned back to the old orphanage. There were fewer police cars than before but all the police tape and barriers were still up and a few cops still watching guard at the doors. Not wanting to try and explain herself, Jenny decides to circle the building to try to find a secret way in. As she got around the midpoint behind the building, she started to hear grunts and whimsical laughing coming from over the wall. Startled by this, Jenny hopped the wall but didn't expect a drop taller than the wall and barely rolled on the landing, ended up sitting on the ground after sliding to a stop. "I need a place to hide for about a week!" shouted out a tried yet cheerful voice. Jenny perked up at the sound of the voice and she started to scan the building's windows for any signs of the person behind the voice. Yet, all she saw was darkness in the halls and an eerily haunting playground and courtyard used by the Orphanage. She stood up cleaned the dirt off of herself and made her way to the door closest to her as she kept scanning the outside area for any signs of recent life. Nothing in the outside play area or the courtyard seemed to have been touched for years and filled with leaves. While standing near the door scanning the area, Jenny heard the same grunt and giggle as before and shocked her out of her detective thoughts. She grabbed the door handle and felt some resistance when she pulled on it back and forth until it flung open with a shower of dust and dirt coming into the building. She started having a coughing fit from the dust in the air and the dirty musty atmosphere of the orphanage. Jenny sat at the open door for few minutes and collected herself from her coughing fit and just enjoyed the fresh air. From the low point of sitting down, the hall felt like it was made for people way bigger than kids or even adults. But then something unthinkable happened, a little girl walked up to Jenny and pointed past her. "Leave this place, it was made to hold horrible things and the guardian is already busy with one pest so leave before you are doomed here like the rest who let curosity get the best of them."
