Kassidy couldn't believe how beautiful her new neighbors house looked once they got everything inside and since Arianna took the last box, I followed her to her new pink plushie room that her dad decided would be good for a teenager girl though Arianna isn't the least bit girly and looks like she could destroy the world.
"I love your room, especially all the girly stuff it is refurbished with. Did your mom tell my dad that you liked pink?" Kassidy asked, speaking out of curiosity to her new friend.
"I don't like pink as much as I did when I was a kid but it seems my mom didn't like the idea of me having a dark gothic tone room. So, I am stuck with this awful pink." Arianna replied though she actually adored her room but to keep her rebellious personality up, she fibbed a little on what she preferred.
"It is still a cool room, mine is like a deep dark purple and looks darker than I would like. Yours is a bright pink with such a lighter feel to it." Kassidy responded with glee.
"Think our parents messed up our personality traits on this matter but I can live with it until I move out when I turn eighteen then head off to another world besides this lavish lifestyle." Arianna replied with her own glee that she is almost old enough to be out on her own.
Kassidy felt a little uncomfortable at the fact that Arianna wanted to leave Baltimore behind and go on into her own world when Kassidy felt she was so much safer in her cul-de-sac with her dad and to become a preacher like him also have her own family with a sweet man and a couple kids. Though her gut churned at the thought each time it was brought up. She drew girls as a passion, especially the random blonde girl a lot who looks exactly like Arianna. Kassidy knew in secret that if she told anyone that she preferred the same-sex then her whole idea of being a preacher would upset her small community. Black girls can't fall in love with white girls, it isn't right.
"You alright, Kassidy? Seem a little lost." Arianna asked.
"Yeah, yeah just amazed by your room is all." Kassidy replied not to make it seem like she was questioning her lifestyle and choices.
Kassidy knew her dad well enough that it wouldn't fly on a school night to stay with someone, especially a random new neighbor. As they made their way downstairs, they saw both parents talking it up like they hadn't seen each other since High School.
"Mr. Robertson can Kassidy stay the night with me since we have school tomorrow and since the only reason she is most likely out is because of me and my mom arriving." Arianna asked in her sweet gentle voice.
"I don't see why not. It will keep me calm through the night that she is here and since the roads are going to be rough then I would keep Kassidy safe right here. I am sure you don't mind Lisa since she did help you today and you fed her for me. I have to get the church open for shelter so this would be a safe spot for Kassidy instead of by herself in our house." Jamal said as he looked at Lisa with a smile.
"I see no issue with it and this will help them to know one another more. Kassidy, you can stay with Arianna in her room since the bed should fit you both or sleep on the floor next to the bed. Either way, we are happy to have you." Lisa said with a light motherly tone.
Before Lisa shut down the radio and television warnings were blaring across the house and the mention of Jamal's church would be open for those needing to stay warm through the blizzard that is sweeping across several states as it just entered Maryland.
"Looks like we aren't going to school this week." Arianna said with a smile towards Kassidy.
"Actually since our school is a private one and we have dorms, they will send us anyways and keep us until Christmas. That is the routine, we only come home for holidays or important events from our parents that need us. Like you moving into the neighborhood." Kassidy explained with an unsure look of how the school could send them out in this mess.
"Wait, we can't stay here with my mom while this blizzard is freezing and dropping piles of snow?" Arianna replied while her smile faded and went to freaking out.
"You are coming from Michigan, right? This should be a breeze." Kassidy responded confidently.
"Actually, she went to Public school and they would close schools all around if it got this bad." Lisa said feeling unsure of sending them out in the morning.
"We walk in the snow storms and not unless the administration says otherwise, we stay in our dorms until classes start if they do that is." Kassidy explained with a slight smile.
"Jamal, I will walk you to the door. Arianna, you and Kassidy go get ready for bed since you have a big day tomorrow. Arianna makes sure to find Kassidy some comfortable clothes for the evening if either of you need to shower, I suggest doing it now in case the city loses power overnight" Lisa said in a slightly demanding voice with sleep fixing to hit her.
Arianna let Kassidy lead the way upstairs even though they had boxes everywhere in the house that still needed to be stored away after being looked through. As soon as they reached the room, one at a time they went to shower and get ready for bed. Kassidy began getting nervous after they each finished showering because sleeping next to the girl she drew was making her feel uneasy and this is someone new. Kassidy and Arianna both were so shy of the sleeping arrangement that they just decided to sleep next to each other then deal with what is to come in the morning.
