Chapter 306 - Declaring Himself Emperor

The fields of prior battles showed clearly who was winning the engagements. Piles of dead bodies from other parts of the world, hastily made and low-quality vehicles and armored machines are strewn about, and a scene of despair fills the air. The open terrain made it easier for Youden's army to crush most fortifications established, as even the best-prepared sections were no match for sound-breaking aircraft, powerful tarrs that could destroy the thickest of the world's bunkers with a few shots, and motivated men. That news and outcome was what Youden wished to hear. With the latest news of the Port-O-Bea invasion, while not updated yet, he believed that the tides were truly turning. Maybe not before on the homeland, but not only there, but on the world stage was that starting to change. The real ruler was here to come and stay.

Only a few of Youden's most trusted generals were with him currently, only a mile away from the main frontline in a small village, as Youden stared outside of what he created. None of them truly knew what was to be expected or tested of them, but they had no wavering doubts about the man. He gave them everything, and they returned that favor. The five of them held no resentment towards their leader, as Youden turned to face them.

"Welcome Generals Kenio, Fang, Davis, Bonte, and Thomas. Some of you have been here since the beginning, others since I've come into power. You all have demonstrated the skills and leadership that are commanded of a Youdenian General. For that, I must reward you all with extremely secretive information. Does anyone know why I've brought you all here?" Youden slowly walked around the room, the small home of a former family being adequate for such a meeting.

The men looked at each other in confusion. They only assumed they were really here for some type of promotion or battlefield update, not whatever this was. But there was no backing out of it now, and inquiring more would give them the answers they were looking for.

"Um, sir, I don't think any of us know. Is it about the current battles?" Kenio was the first to say.

"Good guess, but no. Anyone else?" Youden raised a finger for them to think on.

"Perhaps it's on the state of the current world? If I'm not mistaken sir, at least forty percent of the world is under our direct control or influence." Bonte followed.

"Close, but that's not why. Let me explain." Youden took a quick pause, before continuing, "For some time now, Youdenia was always a nation of prosperity and innovation. After removing the people's oppressors and dissents destroyed or fled, we finally had the chance to create a new reality. A reality filled with hope and opportunity for all. Kenio and Fang, you were among the first men that sided with me during those desolate days of camping in that dirty cave, waiting for the time to strike. Our days of suffering have been long before us! A new day awaits us!"

The generals looked at each other with a bit of surprise, as such words sounded compared to how or what Youden would even speak to them about. This seemed as passionate as those memories served the pair of generals all those years ago. It only made them stronger and more determined to learn how to fight back. Fight back against those that didn't believe in them, the ones that lost all hope for them. They proudly let their medals glisten against the sunlight and their straightened posture showed their confidence. Although, it still didn't add up to what Youden was wishing to convey. There was a bit more to hear.

"Our armed forces are doing unparalleled work, with our enemies practically running away at our presence alone. Every day, we liberate our fellow brothers and sisters from the diluted reality they live in. We're finally gaining ground against the Port-O-Bea citizens and rebels, and sooner than later, will the city finally have fallen. No one can stop the might of the powerful Youdenians, no one! Which is why, I think it's time." Youden was slowly walking, until he returned to the front of the table and looked at his loyal men.

"To do what, sir?" Fang kept his hands together, as he was still in thought as to what he meant, "It's time for?"

"Men, you will be the first to hear from me. But, it's finally time. It's time to declare a new world order against the decrepit fools that control the people. The people who wish for hope and brighter days. What we can bring to them, without any hesitation. I'm henceforth to declare the true name of our nation, of our people. The Imperial Empire Of Youdenia and your new emperor to lead the people towards the future I envisioned!" their leader held their arms high as if he were a god.

The group of men remained silent, processing the words that came out of his mouth. This change of persona was something resembling a god-like figure, to be one hundred percent honest with themselves. Youden was filled with pure ecstasy, keeping his hands in the air. Anyone witnessing such a scene would be filled with an immense amount of doubt, as anything could have really happened by then.

"Are you men not excited for our future?" Youden brought his arms down, a bit surprised by the silence.

"Sir, with all due respect, was this your goal the entire time? To take over the world? Pardon the way I'm speaking, but it sounds elementary, like in a children's book." General Thomas spoke for himself after the silence lasted several more seconds.

Youden looked at the general, who kept his gaze on Youden's very own eyes, not breaking contact. Locked in conflict, the air between the rest of the generals was stiff before Youden clasped his hands together.

"I'm glad I'm not filled with yes men. I can tell you all have some sort of similar sentiment about such basic ideals and plans. Perhaps I should explain what I really mean. More of the truth, and less lies. I can't hold it all back, but you all have shown me that you will absolutely understand. The reason why everything has led to this, it's time for me to say." Youden remained calm, as he took a seat among his men, and gave the generals the vision he was fighting for.

...

"Do we now understand what we are now fighting for? It's all I've ever wished for us to all have." Youden asked his men, after the several-minute dialogue of the truth.

The generals in the room were at a loss for words, struggling to process what they'd sacrificed. The blood, sweat, and literal tears of millions of people weren't for nothing but was all adding up towards the betterment of society. The world Youden was fighting for made it all the clearer, but the people couldn't know about it. Just not yet.

"I'm sure we all now understand what this all meant, especially to you, sir." General Bonte clarified.

"Yes, I never knew the struggles you've truly gone through for us all. Our apologies." General Fang bowed his head down.

The only general that had yet to talk was General Davis, one of the recently promoted ones throughout the war. No one was too sure as to what it took for him to be trusted by Youden, but it was believed to have been from strategic victories and assaults against the massive amount of troops stationed on the continent. From there, it was possible that through political support and similar means, did Davis reach Youden's eye. To be fair, everyone here was trying to reach the top of the hierarchy and reap all the benefits for themselves. It was just the natural way of power and the means to reach it.

"General Davis, you've been rather silent. Anything you wish to say?" Youden looked towards him, the others turning as well.

General Davis stayed in place, showing little emotion but an understanding of what he was here to receive and to follow through. The man simply shook his head, with the others in a bit of awe at the reaction.

"Very well, you seem to make sense of what was discussed. A man of few words is what the world needs sometimes." Youden began taking out a long sheet of paper with paragraphs of information, "Anyway, you five have demonstrated the capabilities of controlling not only your men but administrating the occupied territory for our new empire. With that, I immediately give you all the governing powers of the military governors of your select regions. As we liberate more land, new governors will come about, but I want you five to know you'll have more authority than the newcomers. The reasoning being is the planned formation of our Imperial Council. We will change this entire world for the better, and there is little more to stop us. The threats of our enemies are diminishing by the day, and those like Jamal and his associates will be eliminated. I expect for them to come to us, one way or another, and the final time that does happen, will he be dead. Mark my words men, a new age has struck once again, but we will be dominating the history for decades to come! Our time is finally here! Let the world be reborn once again!"
