Despite the mostly cloudy day attempting to keep the temperatures as cool as possible, that couldn't be further from the truth. Some type of weak heatwave must have come through the area, as what would normally be a crispy sixty-degree weather day, was instead replaced by low eighties with little to no wind. The people of the seaside city weren't usually acquainted to such weather at this time of year, or resources to waste to deal with it. But they could only make do with what was had, as the Viligantes of Power had recently returned to the camp.
It had been almost an entire week since the news of Jamal lighting up the city was brought to their attention, shocking many of the armed forces. Most of them had taken into consideration of the change of character Jamal was undergoing, likely due to the stress of the situation. That could create a lot of implications that could really benefit either side in the conflict, if one took the time to think about it, but was essential in having the man in control. As well as the Viligantes of Power, who would definitely have to rein in him and continue to do their part as well.
"Ah, we're finally back to the frontlines." Hops was cracking his knuckles in eagerness, as the group continued towards the larger tent in the center of the camp.
"Technically, those lines are three miles, we're at the-." Heskins tried to clear up.
"Oh well, I think it's the same thing."
"Speaking of which, we'll have to prepare for the next action of this conflict. So if you really want some fighting, you'll get it soon enough." Sera commented.
"I'm ready for it." Jamal gave them a grin.
"I hope so." Leon followed.
Chatting about their upcoming participation helped pass the short time they needed to move, up to the point of where they reached their destination's entrance. Holding the flap open for the rest of the team, Jamal watched them all be greeted by several of the stationed commanders and a few advisors in the area waiting for their presence.
"It's great to see everyone is finally here." one of the advisors applauded once Jamal closed the flap.
"Same to everywhere here," Jamal followed, as he turned to a table with an updated map in the center of the room, "What's happening?"
"That's great you've asked that question. We called you guys here because we're ready to start the battle on Appleridge." a nearby commander stated.
"In the upcoming days?" Fonda questioned, to which nods gave the answer.
"Thanks to those with powers suited for the air, we've had some small reconnaissance over the city to see a large number of Reserve Guard in the area. If we had to estimate, likely around fifty thousand."
That silenced the gathering for some time, as they the silence to comprehend this newer assault. Despite the heavier casualties from the bridge fight, and attempted recruitment in freed territory, the Port-O-Bea army would still consist of less than half of the defending forces. It was madness, one could say. But they couldn't really slow down the pressure now, as Youden's actions were becoming more aggressive than initially predicted. It was to be expected, but not of this magnitude.
"So, we need to concentrate our attention around the city, almost as if we're attempting a siege. We're thinking about spreading out as many of their soldiers as possible, while we attempt to break into any weaker openings. By doing this, we're ensuring minimal losses are hopefully taken, and creating disorganization on the enemy." another commander broke the silence.
"I see, and we know the layout and surroundings of the city?" Alice wanted to learn more, "Unless, you recall Jamal?"
"Oh yeah, I do remember now. The city is mostly surrounded by thick forests, although I did also see a large road going through it. The highway, I would think?" Jamal recalled easily, "I would be worried about the amount of supplies and more reinforcements coming in through there, so be advised."
"Of course, thanks." the advisor appreciated. "Now that we all know what the general plan is going to be, we must never let our guard down and be prepared for the worse. We're all giving this our all, and the free world has never been closer in our grasp than now. We are officially doing the impossible!"
With that little motivational articulation, one would be more pleased with the future activity, as the meeting continued onward. They were finally going to continue their advance towards one of the most valuable cities on the frontlines at the very moment, and would directly lead straight to the capital. Both sides understood the costs of the area, and the means needed to get that done, but it still brought dread to those that focused immensely on the possibilities. After all, there could only be a winner, and a loser to this entire war, and no one dared to be on the losing side.
