Chapter 285 - The Council Of Nations

The city of Nyverma held a population of over 500,000, although, on this current day, it felt as if more people than ever lived in its area. Then again, considering the fact that it was becoming home to thousands of refugees from the war only eight hundred miles away from the frontlines, it all really made sense. Even with the current information, it did not stop the incoming diplomats and government leaders from all parts of the World Protection Coalition, or WPC for short, to come to gather at the city's convention center, which had been designated as the headquarters for the group.

The meeting itself was already set up inside, as hundreds of chairs for each designated nation still fighting were gathered around in a similar style to the international conference several months prior. The only major difference was that instead of having a select few nations in front that held a certain bit of power, it was replaced by a much larger number and which those nations had either contributed the most towards the war effort or faced the worst of Youden's army and had some experience as to what was happening. The tone of this meeting didn't follow suit of the higher times, as the reports came of the armistice being agreed upon by a select number of nations, and making the war harder for everyone else.

"I cannot believe that anyone would make a deal with someone as disgusting as Youden himself! You bring shame to us all!" an older diplomat near the back was already shouting across the room, pointing at a separated group of the governments that already gave in.

"Our people have been through enough carnage already, so why should we suffer some more?" a counterargument came about from the armistice side, which quickly got the room into a heated discussion.

"Settle down, I say! I say settle down!" a large man from the side governing the meetings, demanded of the group. "Let's act civilized and actually discuss what we're really here to do."

With staff members already working to keep everyone as calm as possible, those in charge could do little but began to start the event before things broke down again. At least then could progress actually be made, if anything even happened today.

"So, before we begin the main discussion, it's important for everyone to understand that we will not attack other governments and their decisions regardless of the situation. With that in mind, it has come to our attention, that ten or so other nations from our faction have officially ended their involvement in the war against Youden's imperialism. Do we have any comment on that?" the large man stated once the moment presented itself.

Many heads turned towards the isolated group, as a spokesperson stood tall and alert. Even with reasoning, most of the allies could see little reason if anything at all that could justify giving up everything they've fought for. It just didn't seem right for any sane person to do when they were all giving it everything they had.

"I would like to make this short and to the point. Our nations have experienced the brunt of Youden's assault and our people were suffering heavily because of it. Combined, over four million people have protested between our nations to end the chaos and to return to living in peaceful times. Eventually, we decided what was best for our people and sent an armistice agreement to Youden which he accepted almost immediately. At least for us now, the war is over." the spokeswoman explained in detail, pressing on despite the subtle boos and lack of support.

"Have you told the council the other news?" someone shouted behind, with other governments egging them on.

"Such as?" the woman raised a brow.

"How y'all letting his army freely move through your territories and into us! What type of treaty is that?" the voice cried out again, causing more anguish and shouting to erupt again.

The main organizers could do little to ease tensions, as powers began to erupt around them from the fury of each side, while staff members and police forces came to quell the aggression. At the rate this was going, nothing would be done and more pain would be inflicted on their people unless something was done.

"Enough!" one of the other organizers shouted for this nonsense to end, "Remove the ones that have no interest in being here any longer, at once!"

The call seemed to de-escalate the situation rather quickly, as the officers began to form around the armistice-signed nations, and the staff was quick to make a path towards the exit. No secondary comments came from those nations, as heckling from the rest of the governments surrounded them. As sad as this was, it had to be done, as the final member was removed from the premise with doors closing immediately. Could things finally go on, and let the real requests go through?

"While we've been wasting time on opposing sides, why don't we focus on the real issue, like our military production? Since the last meeting, have we been meeting the threshold of power gloves needed? Rifles? Ammunition? Swords and such? Anything at all?" more of the organizers began to question, with everyone finally returning to their seats.

"Well, we've finished researching a new and cheap tarr that could counter infantry? It's armed with small taboons and comes with light armor strong enough to take up against most powers." someone closer to the organizers reported.

"And how long would it take to make?"

"Maybe one tarr every five days?"

"No further comments, I say share the blueprints with everyone and begin mass production immediately." the organizer leading the conversation announced, with many other governments quick to agree. "Now, do we have other minor news before we move towards the more dire needs?"

"As a matter of fact, yes." a more elder voice grumbled in the back, forcing heads to turn to hear more.

In the corner of the room, a late middle-aged man was slow to get up and had to hold the edge of the table to finally be able to stand. Looking ahead, as his grey beard that went down to his chest and many wrinkles from years of stress, it was no other than Namo himself, the former leader of Saputa and conquered land now belonging to Yodenia.

"Ah, Namo Dellere. The former leader of Saputa, surely you have something to bring about this time instead of the usual complaints?" a nearby person representing a nation's government spoke before anyone else could.

"As a matter of fact, I do. I'm hearing news that a revolt is forming among my former people and are actively attempting to reclaim Saputa again." Namo nodded with a sense of joy.

"Oh boy, another insurgency everyone! Should we waste our resources on this one?" the person joked, causing many others to join in laughter, "Let's give you the benefit of the doubt. Do you even know who's leading this?"

"As I matter of fact, I'm ninety percent sure I know exactly who. I've even met them before in the past." Namo grinned despite their response, "Jamal."

"Jamal? Jamal who?"

"Jamal Wrint. And he's going to change the outcome of this entire war. Mark my words." Namo confidently replied back, ignoring the continued cackling but knowing that an opportunity was just around the corner.
