Chapter 283 - We May Have Some Peace?

As trashed as the Ohlave City Presidental Office Building was, Youden could only respect the clean-up process that was put in at least inside, with the interior gutted out any noticeable signs of war. Ignoring the building's exterior, which was still littered with holes from artillery shells and an occasional bomb, the office was established with a simple wooden finish, as the old furniture belonging to the original leader was all removed. Just as Youden had done for every other visit to other conquered nations, letting the populace know who was now under charge was his best way of setting an example.

Just as the man was reading the newest reports and updates on the battlefield and worldwide, a quick knock alerted him of a visitor. Calling for them to come in, Youden was greeted with the sight of three sharply-dressed individuals, all holding thick pieces of paper.

"Can I help you?" Youden looked at them carefully.

"Sir, it's rather urgent with what we have at hand." the woman in the middle began to start off. "We-."

"First of all, address to me who you all are. You do realize that I have no clue as to who any of you are." Youden interrupted, before giving them time to speak.

"Well, sir, we're the diplomats of some of the nations we're fighting against. We've come back to give potentially great news." one of the other diplomats replied.

"That being?"

"We believe that thanks to the work of the war effort as well as collaboration among other nation officials, about ten nations are willing to sign an armistice with us."

"Wait, honestly?" Youden almost lifted his head in a bit of surprise. "That was unexpected."

"Sir, this is a great opportunity for us to send back an appropriate response and use it to our advantage. We may not get another opportunity again."

Youden had paused after those words, as the thoughts settled in. Even though it technically wasn't a surrender, it would remove more enemies and resources away from the frontlines and alleviate much-needed pressure. Even with the latest updates with the additional capitulations of six more nations and an additional 150,000 square miles, twenty-four nations no longer having to fight would be of extreme value.

"Alright, send a treaty towards them that we will accept, although make sure the terms are favorable for us. I wish to move our troops through their lands if possible." Youden finally established this after deep thought.

With the diplomats nodding, Youden leaned back against the chair and stared towards the dull ceiling. As chaotic as this conflict was becoming, things were really picking up and beginning to turn the tide in their favor. And those pitiful, poor, disgusting nations could do little against the war machine or even ones of the likes of Jamal. That man was probably struggling against the Reserve Guard with whatever puny irregulars he could muster up, or even their headquarters in Port-O-Bea bombed to oblivion. The times under Youden's domain would be coming to the rest of the world sooner or later, and they would all have to accept his power once and for all.
