Chapter 254 - An Assault Of True Horror

Turns out, on the other half of the world were things not going that great. Despite their combined forces of the world faction, nothing could compare to what Youden had been building up for years. A war machine so brutal, that it made all their prior conflicts look like child's play. This was exceeding far past their prior expectations.

Standing within the treeline, Marketh stood to watch as the warfare around him ensued. The lead commander couldn't believe what he was seeing after all this time. Mere days ago, was a large deployment of ships scouted off their coast, causing the coalition of sorts to scramble up their forces to prepare for any possible attack. Now, just only two days ago did that onslaught finally reach land. He could remember the screams and deafening explosions that shook the ground each second, as they threw waves of their own men to slow their advance. According to some reports, they were losing up to three thousand people an hour, with no sign of Youden's forces slowing down. It was a race against time to see which side would prevail. Would they get overrun, or would they have enough time to establish their defensive lines for a better chance?

"Sir!" a scout soldier's voice broke the silence.

"I'm sorry." the man turned, as a bomb exploded several hundred yards away from them. "Any new updates?"

"The fiftieth and 203rd regiment are making their way to assist defensive measures. For some more unfortunate news, several of Youden's divisions have managed to break through certain pockets and have captured Gyanta, Lindomm, Reru, and are en route towards Mongrave City, the first provincial capital within the country of Marcean."

"Damn it! I said hold the line!" Marketh swore in fury, just as a shell from a nearby tarr hit the side of their temporary bunker, causing it to shudder. "I'm sorry, head back immediately and send the word to the remaining generals to commit to the A5 plan."

"But sir, that would be sui-" the scout began to mutter.

"Do it now! We don't have time!" Marketh stood against the dark clouds, as the warzone continued behind him. "This is for our future."

Nodding, the scout shuffled outside to be greeted by the hundreds of bodies laid upon the ground, and their remaining forces using powers or weapons to hold Youden's forces back. It seemed as if the better-equipped army was simply playing the long game, with minimal casualties on the ground, and hundreds of more ships at sea coming to land. The A5 plan was going to either stop or hold off the inevitable. They've reached the point where the command was to not retreat back until directed so or to be killed by rear troops. As barbaric as it was, the lead command simply didn't believe they could retreat without being dealt with more destruction as an end result.

A loud boom overhead, caused him to snap back to focus, as through the trees' thinning leaves could one see the fast Ariocaster zooming through the air, followed by several large flying behemoths and in the direction of nearby major cities. They were truly fucked, he knew, as he took a deep breath before moving towards the nearest command outpost.

.....

Marketh looked at the young scout, which he knew probably wouldn't survive within the next few hours. Heck, he might die here against the monstrosity, but he wouldn't go down without a fight. He was going to make sure Youden fought for every single inch of land they'd taken, as he peeked to his left. The 203rd division appeared to have more of Youden's styled equipment, with many of them having later versions of taboons and even a few anti-tarr cannons. This would truly be the battle of their world, and the future of mankind, all stemming from this very moment.
