Chapter 215 - Destruction Of Gods

Lina stared at the large desert fields in the southern region near Dekyia; while standing behind protective glass and shelter. It had been three weeks since Youden arrived at the established labs and made one of the most daring requests of all time. A bomb so powerful that it could destroy and annihilate entire cities? That was something that seemed almost impossible to complete, even with their current technology. Except that was what she had thought until Terrence proved them all wrong.

The man provided them with all the blueprints and methods needed to extract the energized powder, which took twenty-four complete hours just to acquire one hundred grams of the material. According to his calculations, they only needed twenty-five of those grams to destroy an entire city or at least half of one, guaranteed.

"Lina, something tells me this is wrong." one of the researchers near her questioned waveringly.

Lina didn't respond immediately, as she continued looking at the mostly empty area ahead. Except in order for this to be an accurate test, Youden had workers actually construct a crudely built town. several miles away from their location. At least that's what it looked like when the researchers were granted temporary access within the compound, and the sight spoke for itself. Even still, Lina couldn't imagine people actually living somewhere that in mere moments would get demolished with ease.

"The experiment is going to go well. As long as the calculations and measurements are set correctly, there will be nothing to fear." Lina promised her.

"I didn't mean that, I was speaking ethics-wise. Even with some of the others, we're going to really be responsible for the death of thousands in one moment?"

Before Lina could come up with an appropriate response, there was a loud knock on the door in the back of the shelter. One of the guards in the building peeped through the peephole, before opening the door abruptly. Everyone inside turned and silence filled the room. Youden himself stared into the crowd before giving a quick salute.

They quickly followed suit, before putting their hands down in near unison. Lina gulped with surprise, as Youden calmly walked through the group as if his presence meant nothing.

"I see the test is going to start shortly. That's good to see." Youden nodded towards her.

"Y-Yes, it is sir." Lina stuttered out, "We thought you couldn't make it after your change of plans."

"Those changes happened again, and so I had time to reach here thankfully." Youden grinned, before turning to the caller operator to the airfield. "Can we get this started as soon as possible?"

"Yessir, the Ariocaster is preparing to take off in two minutes." she calmly replied, before continuing the discussion and planning.

Returning her focus ahead, Lina could now see streaks of dust traveling through the desert landscape and away from the town. That was a bit strange, considering how straight it was moving, as Youden nodded to himself.

"The subjects made it just in time." she could hear him mumble. Subjects?

"Sir?" Lina looked at him with worry. "What did you mean by that?"

"Oh nothing, Lina." Youden continued staring ahead. "It's making this more authentic, which is all."

Lina barely heard the operator announce that the Ariocaster had just taken off, and would be over the site in five more minutes. The room was silent, except for the occasional breath or jotting of notes. Lina was still shaken by everything that she had heard. Even in the past, when they did similar tests at least it was confirmed by them to be those of evil that willingly "volunteered" for the greater good. Now, she wasn't even sure what was or wasn't real.

Lina continued to stare ahead, as she could hear a growing buzz roaring above. It wasn't even ten seconds before the aircraft zoomed past the shelter, its engine pulsing with flames. I guess something so powerful needs a vehicle quick enough to escape its power, Lina had quickly figured out.

Everyone stopped what they were doing, as they all pressed against the window. Lina stared ahead with them, as they could all finally see some object eject from the aircraft and move towards the ground. In mere moments, it was almost like everything went into slow motion. Lina watched as it looked as if the object was going to hit the ground before an extremely bright light blinded them all. One only had to wait a few more seconds before a loud boom expanded throughout the shelter, as despite the distance, the glass actually cracked from the power but still held strong.

Even with her eyes closed, Lina could still see the light through them as she slowly forced them open. The light was still blinding, as if the sun was literally in front of them, and she could make out an outline of some type of cloud forming around the site.

"Now, this is something truly incredible. This is going to get us somewhere." she had heard Youden laugh in excitement, although she returned the favor with a gulp. Whatever weapon they truly created for Youdenia was something that they could regret years down the road in the near future.
