Chapter 192 - Toughen Up, Or Get Beaten Up

Lero was still out, until a sick cough broke out. The hacking forced Lero to open his eyes, although his left eye wasn't able to open. Regardless, he quickly noted that half of his face was bandaged, as pain began to seep across his body, forcing him to cry out in agony. The large room he was in was dark, and musty. Adjusting, he turned his head around to note the person coughing more ferociously in the shadows, as Lero could watch in horror.

He almost cried out for help, until he saw a guard march towards the person, holding a pistol. Before he could make another sound, the guard got into the person's face, and although he couldn't see anything, a small struggle broke out, before a shot rang out. The coughing ceased instantly afterward, as the guard wiped his uniform in disgust, before moving back to his position.

"That'll shut em' up." the guard rang out to the almost empty room. "I suggest the rest of you quiet down as well."

With that, the guard left the room, likely to get someone to remove the body, with Lero grinding his teeth shut. This is too far for him. Looking around again, he could see about twelve other people within the hospital-like room, as he faced the ceiling. Suginur Prison was not only a death trap, but a place of horrors and atrocities. If he didn't get out of here, a life sentence wasn't going to kill him, but the prison itself would do him the favor.

"Heh, you must be new here." Lero heard a male voice mutter, "You'll get use to it."

"For bloody sakes," Lero croaked out, his voice dry and agitated from pain, "What do you mean?"

"I've been in this prison for forty-three years. Long before Saputa was united, and before it's conquering." the voice continued, "I know every little crack and hole inside this damn place."

"What you in for?" Lero was curious.

"For going against the Powian Government, the precursor of the founding of Saputa. I, myself created the thirteen-year civil war." the voice continued.

"Civil war? Mate, you might have bloody lost it. I don't know what you're talking about."

"That's not the point. I heard your story when one guard brought you in here. I must say, taking on Arocut wasn't something a expected from someone like you."

"They probably took everything from my cell though. I was collecting silverware, and I had a fuorking, no pun intended, use with it bloody too!"

The man laughed aloud, as the guard returned with another one, as they carried the body and left the room within the minute. Once they had left, the man continued talking.

"That's not how you should have escaped. It's almost impossible to get out of here. I've attempted every plan known to mankind, but they've all backfired or failed. You better make your stay here with an impact."

Lero took a sigh, as he closed his eyes in concentration. He couldn't give up hope yet, surely someone would gladly free them from here.

"Jamal will save us, or I'll do it myself." Lero muttered.

"Whoever that is, they're not breaking you out. They will die for nothing." the voice got quieter, the man falling asleep. "The name's Thoam. Thoam Halling."

With that name in mind, Lero kept quiet. He'll soon be discharged, and back among the other prisoners. It was time to toughen up, or he was going to die trying.
