Benu was driving in his small carr, alongside his friend Meil, as they continued onto the winding road during the nighttime. He could hear the thumping in the trunk of the vehicle, all of the crates shuttering to the top, before landing back onto the bottom until the next bump.
"Are you sure those crates are secure?" Meil asked him with a bit of worry.
"Yeah, we should only be a week away from Port-O-Bea. After all, these cabbages are going to be a worthy profit, trust me." he confidently replied back to her.
"Sure they will. I don't even know why I'm here again."
"Because that's what friends are for? Am I wrong?"
With that, Meil just chuckled at that, as Benu just continued driving ahead, the carr's light barely illuminating the narrow road ahead. As he continued the drive, he could barely make out several hundred yards away from him, but it looked like a shadow. Noticing it, he slowed the vehicle to a crawl, as Meil looked ahead in shock.
"What's wrong?" Meil stared ahead, seeing nothing.
"Get the rifle."
"Your powers picking up something?"
"Yep."
Benu continued staring ahead, as the thing began to move closer to the carr, as Meil stood in front and aimed the weapon into the darkness. He wasn't scared of whatever beast was trying to take them.
"Whatever you are, stay back!" Benu cried out after he instantly shifted the gear to park.
Pulling out a revolver from his side as he got out of the carr, he aimed it at the being, which stopped moving and appeared to directly stare at them. From his spot, it looked humanoid, too human in fact. But what human would be out here and especially so far from any nearby civilization?
"I've finally found some people." the shadow called out before light appeared from it.
Both Benu and Meil cried out in shock, as the shadow turned out to be a human that had powers, holding a small flame above its hand. There could be no possible way that a human could be this far out. It was just unheard of.
"You're, you're actually human?" Meil shuttered out.
"Of course."
"Explain yourself, and tell us why you're out alone." Benu quickly focused back, still aiming the weapon at the man.
"Simple, and listen well. My name is Jamal Wrint and I'm going to kill Youden." Jamal simply stated as he shaped the flame into a fireball, to their amazement.
But wait, he said he was going to kill Youden? Benu really wasn't going to let that happen, even if the man was lying. Just looking at his appearance, Jamal's raggy and scuffed outfit from traveling through woods and living with nature made him look little of a threat.
"You're lucky you're out in the woods. Saying that in the city would get you killed." Benu grinned, cocking the gun. "But of course you can't do that."
"Wait a second, Benu! He said he was Jamal Wrint! That's the man Youden warned us about months ago! Remember?" Meil shouted back to him, as Jamal began to walk towards them.
"Another step, and you'll regret it, permanently." Benu stated, causing Jamal to stop, "If you're truly who you claim to be, then we'll probably die."
"What are you getting to, Ben?" Miel called out his nickname, not looking away.
"I'm really saying, this could be it here for us." Benu said, "If that's the case, I've kind of liked you for a bit."
That caused Miel to be in shock, lowering the rifle temporarily and giving Jamal the opportunity he was waiting for. Without hesitating, he rushed towards the unsuspecting woman, who barely had any time to react, before Jamal snapped the weapon in half with ease. In shock, the woman backed up, before realizing she was against the car.
"No!" Benu shouted out, firing the weapon.
Jamal didn't even have to turn around, as his body instantly ignited on fire, and he flicked his hand towards the shot, causing the bullet to melt.
"Wow, what a warm-up that was. I'll take what I can get." Jamal smiled at both of them, dying down the flames.
Benu and Miel just stared at Jamal, not bothering to move, as Jamal walked towards Miel.
"What do you think you're doing?" Miel cried out, trying to get into the driver's seat before Jamal pulled her back.
"You can't do that, you creep!" Benu yelled out, reloading his revolver while rushing towards him.
Jamal just sighed, as he grabbed the woman's face tightly with his right hand, with her clawing at him. Then without mercy, he ignited it. Benu could hear her screaming, as he finished the reloading process, before firing multiple shots at him.
Jamal just smiled mercifully, as he waved his hand around him, creating a "shield" of fire, protecting him from the bullets. Benu continued to rush towards him, almost able to hit him, before he felt a thin, but extremely painful searing pain in his stomach. Stopping in his tracks, he looked down to see a sword of fire inside him, causing him to gasp in shock.
"Thanks for the ride, you two." Jamal nodded in appreciation, as he extinguished the fire from his right hand, the woman already dead and with a melted face with the screaming long over, before dropping the dead body. Benu could barely move, as Jamal approached him, and pushed the blade in deeper in his body, causing him to spit blood into his face.
"Weren't, you a hero to us?" Benu managed to cough out.
"Maybe, but this is the only way I'll kill Youden. Sacrifices will be necessary for this world to be saved if I can do one last thing." Jamal said calmly as he removed the blood.
Jamal just watched, as Benu collapsed onto his knees, blood dripping from his lips. Jamal himself could hear several animals not too far from him, probably watching from a distance for easy pickings.
"Just kill me already. You already took everything away from me." Benu managed to spit out.
"I will." Jamal said, as he kicked the dying man onto the ground.
Benu couldn't do anything, as he made a dud into the ground before he could feel the man going into his pockets, taking anything of value from him.
"This will get me to him. Your deaths will help the world and I will return the favor by killing him." Jamal said to him a final time, before walking away.
Benu couldn't do anything except watch the man go into his carr, before removing the vehicle from park. If he wasn't in pain, he would've laughed as Jamal appeared to struggle to figure out how to drive the machine, initially going backwards, before finally moving forward. So long, he knew, as the vehicle passed ahead of him, running over the remains of Miel's body, and he was staring ahead of a pack of wolves.
...
Jamal was humming to himself, as he quickly glanced up in the rearview mirror. He could see what looked like a pack of animals pounce onto the dying man's body, temporarily twitching and trying to move, before he lost sight driving around a curve. At least now, he was one step closer to reaching Youden.
