Jamal was standing in the cold air, as light flurries began to come down. This would likely be the last type of snowfall he'll see for the year, as it was early April and even up here the air was getting warmer. But he was here, still waiting by the cliffside, where the slope of the mountain would drop, and next to Hops's sled. It looked like it was in terrible condition, but he just stared at the watch Ula had given him on his 18th birthday. Still well-kept, he noticed he had been waiting for over an hour now and was about to just go on his own until a figure stumbled towards him. Great, Jamal knew, as a tired-looking Hops grinned at him.
"How you do!" Hops snorted out towards him, before putting a bottle to his lips.
Jamal smacked the thing out of his hands as they both watched it fall into the sled, now cracked but not broken. He didn't have time to deal with this, especially now.
"Get your act together, we don't want to be late." Jamal growled at him, before sitting down inside. He did not wait for this man to come like this.
"Fine, dude. But I'm saying, I just met this girl an-" Hops began to laugh off, as he stumbled into the front of the sled.
"I don't have time for this! Either drive the sled, or I'll do this myself!" Jamal stated clearly.
Hops just giggled, as he dragged one foot out and began to push off the ground. Why was he even trusting him, Jamal felt like, as the sled began to pick up pace. I'm probably just saying my energy from doing anything.
"Here we go!" Hops laughed like it was a carnival ride.
"What's so funn-" Jamal began to grumble at him again, before the sled slipped off the cliffside, and for a brief moment, Jamal was able to look down at the small chasm below.
"What's wrong with you!" Jamal began to scream, as the sled instantly began crashing towards it.
"Yeah!" Hops screeched with joy, as the flurries began to fall down more heavily with the increasing wind.
I'm so dumb, I'm so dumb, I'm so dumb, Jamal began to mutter to himself, eyes closed before he felt a thud. Slowly opening them, he could see a grinning Hops staring back at him, as they were zipping back through the ground.
"You fell for it!" Hops laughed off, as Jamal could see the lights of the town.
"Why were you faking this entire time?" Jamal wanted to curse him out, but could only give a smirk for the effort.
"Because you look like you needed a joke after everything." Hops reassured him, as he stared back ahead, the town now in proper view, as they continued to speed closer to the port, and Leon.
