Chapter 86 - The Saputan Leader Has Arrived With Fear

Fonda grinned, as Jamal launched several fireballs into the wall behind her.

"Watch it, or you'll have to clean it again." she snickered, as Jamal watched her eagerly.

"Don't worry about me, you still have a lot to work to do." Jamal grinned, as he approached her cautiously.

Fonda moved closer to him, before sidestepping out out the way of another fireball attack, to jab at the exact spot he got stabbed only six weeks ago. It didn't hurt as bad compared to then, but it was just enough to cause him to grunt in pain.

"Oh, sorry about that-" she began to apologize before a sword of fire was in front of her face.

"Never let your guard down in a fight or any situation like that. Could get yourself hurt, or worse." he explained, dying down the fire and moving his arm away, "Plus I'm fine, so don't worry about it."

At that moment, Ula came out with a bag in her hand and walked up to them.

"Looks like Jamal's going to be cleaning again." Ula laughed, as they quickly kissed.

"It won't be that hard. And where are you going?" he said.

"Doctor's appointment, just keep watch, okay?"

"I got everything, not hard at all." he replied.

"Good, I'll be back in about three hours. See you later, Fonda." she said as she began leaving them.

"Bye!" Fonda said with glee.

"Shall we get back to training?" Jamal asked her once Ula was out of sight.

"I'm not going to hold back!" Fonda agreed as they quickly continued the spar.

They went at it for another solid hour, until both of them were sweating from exhaustion. Even though they couldn't do much in the limited space, it was enough to get a solid exercise in. Jamal was excited, however. He was finally reaching his former peak, and for all he knew, he could reach higher.

"Come on, let's get a drink. You deserve it." he was proud to say.

Fonda just gave him a thumbs up, as they returned into the house. Jamal poured them both some water and both quickly downed the liquid. Exhausted, he just sat back in the seat, and just enjoyed the breeze of an open window. He could hear yelling and noises, and he got up to close the window until he heard some words that he knew something was up.

"Namo is here!" a voice cried out in the distance.

Wasn't that the Saputan Leader? What was he doing all the way here? Something was up, and he was going to find out.

"Fonda, you can watch Brat can you?" he said, preparing to get out of the house.

"But your shirt?" she said, pointing at him.

He looked down to see most of his sleeve on his right side was burnt off.

"Who gave me a regular shirt? Did you guys forget I can only wear elemental or fireproof clothes or else it will burn off?" he asked, to a response of silence.

Not bothered, he took it off and shoved it in the trash, and went to a closet in the hallway with all the other clothes already inside. He found one that was fireproof and put it on quickly before getting out of the house and saying goodbye.

Walking down the road, he could see a small crowd and got behind them as they moved to the town square. The commotion was tense, as people moved up to see several carriages ahead, with Namo himself speaking to the people.

"People of Saputa, if you hadn't know yet, a deadly invasion has resulted in our nation getting pushed back all the way here. As a result, we are asking that you prepare to leave the city within the next month. We will release more plans later." Namo began to explain.

"We not leaving!" someone shouted, and soon the crowd was yelling it towards him.

"You want us to leave everything behind!"

"We lived here our whole lives!"

"I'll die to stay here!"

"Who wants to defend our home with me?" someone cried out, with multiple cheers and enthusiasm.

"Wait, you still want to defend?" Namo asked the crowd.

"Of course, what do you expect. I don't care the cost, I just want my kids to know we didn't let some random army make us leave."

"Oh, in that case, then I'll make a sign-up right now. You will keep watch in front of the gates, and defend the city when they attack because they will. And it won't be much, but you'll be rewarded." Namo said gleefully, then called for someone to start the list.

People began moving closer to Namo, and Jamal pushed through. The perfect way to get his revenge on Youden would be his for trying to kill him. And if the Leader was all the way here, then that would only mean the capital was lost. It would only be a matter of time before the real fighting here would begin, and he was hoping they wouldn't be on the run again like in the city.

"Name?" the list writer asked once he reached the front,

"Jamal Wrint."

"Age?"

"Eighteen."

"Sir, I think you might be a bit of a ris-" the writer began to announce before Namo came back.

"Wait, I remember this name. Jamal? This must be the kid Boom told me about." Namo said with excitement.

"You met Boom?" Jamal wondered.

"Of course, once a month we did, until the invasion. He was still in one of the hospital's last time I saw him, and fear the worst had come to him. This is a promising young man, let him in, no more questions." Namo told Jamal and the last bit to the writer, before walking away.

"Alright, well in that case, go over there to get started. We'll start handing out or finding uniforms tomorrow. Thanks!" he told him, before calling the next person wanting to assist.

Jamal walked towards the rest of the people wanting to help. Let the hard work begin!
