Chapter 78 - It's Over For Saputa

Youden had his back against the wall of what was once a building for Saputa City's last remaining weapons as powers and taboons were beginning to be used around him. It was only a matter of days before what little their counterattack did eventually got them pushed back even further in their fortification. Youden could see the ruined Palace in the distance, despite his Ariocasters not even attacking it. Perhaps they were going to take everything out with them as well. But Youden had enough of this, as he leaped himself over the wall.

To his surprise, he saw several people on the steps of the Palace loading up powders and a ball of metal inside a cannon. But this wasn't an ordinary cannon. It was one of only five in existence, an elemental one, an obsolete superweapon years ago. When he was still with the army, it was supposed to be for ceremonial events, but it seemed like it was going to be used like it originally was meant to be.

"You really think that's going to work?" Youden laughed towards them, as he deflected powers trying to kill him.

"I want you to cut the fuse in half and light it up as soon as you finish now. Keep filling the cannon with powders until I say not to." a person instructing the soldiers told them all.

They didn't hesitate as it was quickly cut and instantly lit. They kept filling it up with powder, letting the special metal ball absorb bags worth of dust. Youden just grinned, as he kept walking closer to them, as less and less of the rest of the soldiers used their powers on him and instead on his troops.

"Sir, it's kind of close!" a soldier in the front of the cannon cried out in worry.

"Keep filling it up! And start aiming it at him!" the commanding soldier told them all, as they began to change direction.

The cannon was beginning to heat, as it started giving off a light glow. The commanding soldier smiled, as he finally told his troops to stop as the cannon was directly aimed in front of Youden.

"Good riddance to you, we shall reclaim Saputa after you've fallen!" he cried out, as the cannon fired the ball, and so powerful that it got pushed back onto the doors of the Palace itself.

Youden grinned, as he quickly put a wall of earth in front of him, but it broke through that. In a bit of surprise, he grabbed it in his hands and began to scream, as it began to quickly burn his hands, as it pushed him back hundreds of yards, causing him to go through multiple structures. Dang, I really underestimated this, he knew, as he began attempting to dig his feet into the ground. Not doing much, he let the darkness around him get absorbed as a light aura appeared, and he quickly slowed down. Once he stopped, he began rushing towards the Palace through the broken buildings and launched the ball back at them. In shock, the soldiers attempted to move out of the way, but it was no use as the ball struck the cannon it came out from, causing it to blow up. This resulted in the entire front part of the Palace to have completely collapsed, including killing anybody in the vicinity.

Satisfied with his work, Youden urged his troops onward, as he reached the remains of the grand doors, leading inside. They were blocking his way from getting inside but with one swift kick was quickly taken care of. Some of his men rushed up behind him, only to see it empty. Youden began to chuckle, then laugh. His men looked at him with confusion, as they watched him go up to a window in the far back. He could see multiple carriages dash away to a back road, leaving their own troops behind to die.

"Well, looks like they've given up. I think it's safe to say that the city will be ours in a few more hours. After all this time, we'll have taken out the hardest challenge of our journey yet! Let's finish them!"

The men cheered as they rushed around the Palace looking for anything useful, or back outside to help fight against the last remaining troops they had behind. They would fight to the very end, but it would have all been for nothing. The superiority of their army would be too much, and from here would it be smooth conquering.
