As Olivia was sitting on the couch with her computer in front of her, she heard the door open. Meghan entered. She apparently had a key to Jasper's appartment.
'Hey' she said.
'Hey" answered Oli.
'I'm waiting for Jasper. He is supposed to come by soon' Meghan added.
'You don't have to explain yourself to me. You clearly have a key to this appartment. You are as welcome here as I am.' Olivia answered.
'Yeah I guess that's true. So how is it going with the hunt?'
'its going. I have a couple of call backs. Some I am interested in. Other's not so much.'
'That's exciting'
"Somewhat.' Olivia was silent for a second then she asked 'how did you get your job if I may ask. Where do you work exactly?'
Megan laughed. 'guess'
'I don't know I would probably insult you if I do. Bike shop.'
'pff, very far. I'm the PR head for Fabiola's magazine'
Fabiola was a fashion magazine in line with titles like vogue. Olivia's jaw drop. 'You?'
'Me'
'I mean don't take this the wrong way, but you certaily dont seem like the person who would work for PR. Let alone PR for fashion.'
Meghan sight. 'I actually think that gives me the upper hand because I stand out.'
'Sure. Let's say that.'
Meghan tilted her head. 'let's say that?'
'yeah. I'm certainly skeptical of what you just mentioned'
'why?'
Olivia was suddenly insecure about her comment. 'Please, nevermind my comment. I dont know everything.'
Meghan raised her eyebrows. 'No. Your comment is not wrong. Its a perception. Expand.'
Olivia felt even more self aware at those words. Olivia was supposed to be the psychologist yet she was afraid of her own head. 'I would have thought it made it harder for people around you to find they have things in common with you.'
'Oh they definitely have things in common with me. In regards to our differences, however, as I let my light shine as genuine as possible, i give them permission to do the same.'
'Are you always this perfect?' Olivia said a tad annoyed.
Now it was Amber to be taken aback.
'Am I being perfect?'
'Kind of'
'Huh, didn't think that was the equivalent of being perfect. Are you sure you are not the one who is too insecure to hang out with people that speak their mind?'
'you do realize it is in your interest to build a positive relationship with me right?'
'Why?'
'Because I'm your boyfriend's sister.'
'so?'
'Now I am confused'
'I don't care if you like me Olivia. I'm Jasper's girlfriend. Not yours. I want us to get along, but I wont try that hard.'
Olivia looked at Meghan. She understood that Meghan wasn't doing a power play. She was just being honest. However, her voice commanded such authority, and right there and then, she had taken away any inch that Olivia could have had to manipulate her in any way. Not that she wanted to. Meghan stood tall.
'yeah that's fair.' Olivia said. 'I'm going to watch tv, want to join?'
'sure'
