Three transport ships, known as the Vector 6's, fly at low altitudes. Two of the Vector 6's each carry three units of soldiers. The other Vector carries combat drones to support their operators. The vector officers make their way to investigate the missing drones. Once the two transport ships flew over a temple-like structure, they detected the G.P.S. of the missing drones. They also found one of the power sources that kept destroying satellites. They were ordered to find the missing combat droids and disable the power source to ensure future colonization within the area.
All are wearing advanced military exosuits and equipped with the latest assault rifles known as the rapid rail gun model number DR-03091980 RRG-80. The military science division has made advancements with their firearms that were either based on the design of electrical railing systems or energy-based. The exo-suits were made of diamond woven Kevlar with anti-tear insulation. The Earth's Conglomerate military was nearly unstoppable.
In one of the Vector bays, one of the military units discusses the discovery of the Oldumare's wreckage.
"Man, did you hear about the wreckage of the Oldumare found not far from here!"
"Yeah, they have reconnaissance drones salvaging what's left of the wreckage. No human can get close. The radiation levels were so high. It was from the lightwave engine exploding. "
"Do you think anyone survived here on this planet?"
"Highly unlikely," One of the military soldiers replied.
"They say the air here is breathable."
"Yeah, but who can tell what alien bacteria can kill us here? Besides, it's been 40 years since the Oldumare crashed. Imagine not having any food or shelter to survive. Let us not forget the unfortunate bastards we found floating in space in the escape pods. They were like total mummies. I guess they died from oxygen and starvation."
"I wonder why the Hearthtropolian government didn't send any rescue ships."
"The rescue mission was deemed too dangerous. Besides, it would have taken them over a year to get here."
"Why are we here now?"
"Our tech was inadequate back then. The egg heads in the science division kept testing the weapon accuracy that allowed it to plot a maneuvering course through the detection sensors."
'And that is part of our mission," the Commanding Officer (C.O.) stated. "Listen up, fellas. We have two objectives. One we investigate the missing combat droids and to locate and destroy the weapon that killed the Oldumare."
"How do we even know that this is the weapon? What if an alien ship destroyed the Oldumare."
"Because the data extracted from one of the Oldumare communication space beacons have recorded it. The energy signature matches the power source. It is coming from the location where the androids went missing."
"Sounds like a coincidence?"
"It is not. Everyone keep your eyes peeled," The commanding officer demanded.
The Vector 6's ships deployed the military personnel and combat droids three miles away from the objective location. The soldiers Abseiled down from the Vector as its engines went from flight to the hovering autopilot. Combat droids were released from a drop pod.
The recon team made their way through the dense forest. Everyone was on edge as they did not know the territory. They had limited air support with a recognizance drone. They played their cards safe from the energy source that destroyed the Oldumare. A soldier saw something moving in the bushes. The commanding officer saw the nervousness in his officer.
"What is it private," C.O. asked.
"I thought I saw something in the bushes."
"That is nonsense. The recon drone would have picked any movement," one of the soldiers stated.
"I am telling you I saw something looking at me."
The C.O. ordered the combat droids to investigate the area. Multiple motion, audio, and thermal scans were conducted in the area. Nothing was detected except for a few alien wildlife in the area.
"The droids did not find anything,"
"I am telling you something was there.
"Stop being scared, "one of the soldiers scolded.
"No, it's fine. We are in unknown territory. Keep your eyes and ears open. We don't know what is out in these bushes," the commanding officer stated.
Within an hour, the soldiers reached an alien pyramid structure that Joilee discovered in her first few days on the planet. The military set up a parameter. The C.O. gave a sitrep to the military outpost of their progress.
They were ordered to set up a parameter as they would be there overnight. Once the parameter was established with combat drones on full alert, the personnel was instructed to investigate the energy source, find its weakness, and deactivate it by any means necessary.
The demolition science team went inside to locate the missing drones. To their discovery, deactivated bots were scattered throughout the interior. Upon observation, the combat droids were damaged by bladed weapons and arrows. One of the E.G.C. officers tried to radio their finding, but they were attacked. Blood-curdling screams could be heard over the radio coms.
The C.O decided to go in himself, taking a small unit of soldiers. However, he was haunted by the sight of the droid being cut down by a Sierran Native. The C.O. ordered everyone to fire into the bushes. However, they were all wounded by arrows and throwing knives. The C.O. ordered the remaining standing personnel to retreat inside the temple.
The. soldiers attempted to seek safety inside the temple; yet, they were not fast enough and were being cut down. The C.O. did not realize that he had no standing men or support. The C.O. hid behind one of the columns. He held his assault weapon, ready to take down any hostile.
The C.O. heard footsteps to his right. "Fuck it," The C.O. replied as she worked up a nerve to confront his attacker. The C.O. pointed his weapon, but it was immediately knocked out of his hand. The C.O. looked up and saw a monstrous humanoid figure. The C.O. reached for his secondary weapon, but his monstrous figure threw a bladed weapon, knocking the handgun into the dark corner.
The C.O. brandishes a diamond edge combat machete with his last remaining weapon. The C.O. takes a few swings, but he was unsuccessful in landing a blow. The C.O. 's opponent grabs his hand and counter-attack with the next swing by grabbing the weapon's base. The C.O. received a swift kick in his abs and caused him to be repelled back on the floor. The C.O. hunched over, gasping for air. Before the C.O. could recover, his attacker stood over him. The C.O. received a swift stomp to the face, cracking his face mask and causing the exosuit to lose oxygen. In a state of daze and looking for oxygen, the C.O. loses consciousness.
C.O. worked up with his helmet off within hours, and his hands and feet were restrained. He found the air very dense to breathe, but it would kill him. He saw all of his men were still alive and their helmets removed, bound at the hands and feet. The C.O. attempted to regain his focus until his focus. He attempted to unloose the ropes, but they only got tighter.
"Don't do that. You'll cut your hands off!"
Hearing a woman's voice, the C.O. looked up and saw the monstrous alien looking down on him.
"Did I just hear correctly? Are my ears deceiving me, or did that alien speak English?" One of the bound soldiers stated.
"How do you know our language," the C.O. inquired.
The alien removed its face mask, which turned out to be an animal pelt. The monster turned out to be Dr. Reyna Joilee. Her hair was longer, and her skin darker.
"You're human?"
"Yes, I am the sole survivor of the Oldumare."
"That can't be; you do not look a day over 25," one of the captive soldiers stated.
"I am quite sure that I am not. So I guess you are here to rescue me after being stranded for 15 years."
"Did you say fifteen years?"
"Yes, I have waited here for 15 years; why did it take so long?"
"That is impossible. There is no way you could survive all this time or remain youthful."
Joilee went to the pile of confiscated weapons and took them. She grabs an advanced Palmer. She knew they were telling the truth but had to confirm a date. She tried to use the device, but it had a Lock Screen.
"What is the code to this," Joilee asked the soldiers.
"I refuse to answer any more questions."
"Never mind, I'll do it myself!"
Joilee places her hand on Palmer and closes her eyes. Suddenly the Palmer was unlocked. She observed the date. To her discovery, it was indeed that 40 years had passed.
"40 years have passed? How is this possible," Joilee asked herself.
"Why did you attack us?
"You are trespassing," Joilee stated.
"What happened to the combat drones that went missing before our arrival?"
"They were disposed of."
"What are you going to do? Kill us?"
Joilee spoke to one of the female huntresses. The huntress pulled out a blade; and approached from behind. The C.O. closed his eyes and awaited his demise; however, his restraints were cut. The C.O. opened his eyes and saw that his men were also being released.
"Let this be a good gesture they did not kill you. Leave this place and never come back here. The place tread upon is sacred ground."
"Joillee, you have to come back with us.."
"No! I am not going anywhere with you!"
"You have to. You are a soldier who swore an oath to the Hearthtropolian government."
"I only honor oaths to those who don't consider me disposable. It is best that you are on your way. Nightfall is approaching. There are far more dangerous predators than us," Joilee replied before disappearing into the bushes with her Quexamatil clan.
