The feeling that you get when you are very close to victory – that was overwhelming me!
We had killed all the threats who stood in the way of King Jalaar and I. Now it was just he who needed to die. Although we had killed Raptor and Trikallous, the soldiers of Xorain army had been putting up a good fight. Most of their soldiers were dead. But most of ours didn't remain as well. We had lost thousands of lives. Many monsters of Phantom had been killed. They had reduced to a substantial amount but the Red One every once in a while, would speak inside my mind that we will be victorious.
What was lost couldn't be brought back; we needed to safeguard all that was left. And therefore, at last now that all big obstacles had been removed, we marched towards King Jalaar. He was now clearly visible. All this while, he had been sitting on a huge rock, spectating the war. Sounge galloped and I moved faster than the others. When he saw me, he smiled and gestured me with his fingers to come at him. I obliged. I rushed towards him with my battle-axe; the exhaustion of my body vanishing as I was reaching the final goal. All others followed. Xavier had gotten back into his warship to deal damage from the sky.
The puny monsters and the quite large giants didn't matter to me. I mostly dodged them – sometimes killing as well – in order to reach the King. Wade, Master Polwern and Adonis were also arriving behind the DELTAs. Oliver being the quickest overtook me. At last, King Jalaar rose from his seat. Oliver gave a brave war cry and went in to clash.
But even before he could, King Jalaar grabbed his weapon, the trident and threw it at him. It struck Oliver's right shoulder and he went flying and fell near me. I stopped in my tracks and bent down towards Oliver. I looked at King Jalaar. He wasn't a king for no reason. His one strike had made Oliver unconscious. Amanda came in to help. I left him under her care and got up. "I had warned you way before, to not get into this mess, son! I mean, Blaze Hunt or whatever. By the way, this will be your doom, Zhorkaria!" The King said, showing off the trident in hand.
Xavier who was firing from above in his warship also had the same fate; defeat. The King launched Zhorkaria directly at the ship and it came crashing down on the ground. Xavier tried all controls he had but wasn't able to save the ship. He pressed the emergency button (Of course he had an emergency button! He is Xavier!!) and the floor below his seat gave way. He came down, some kind of flyer plane on his back which helped him safely land. But the sound of the warship was so loud; people miles away could hear it. Smoke filled the arena and Xavier, immediately after landing, rushed inside the fog. After a minute or so, when everything became clear, we saw that the warship had been literally destroyed. Most of the parts lay miles away from each other. The ship was in flames. Xavier fell on his knees and everyone was silent. Months of work to build the biggest and most creative project yet had just been gone with one strike.
Xavier's reaction was exactly the same as Oliver when he had lost Tortunem, his blade. He was trying to hide his tears. Each one of us had lost something or the other. Even if we are victorious in the end, whom to celebrate with? Even King Jalaar didn't attack. He wanted a fair fight so, he waited. All that we had lost due to the King couldn't be expressed in words anymore. I turned back to face the King. Everyone else shifted their focus as well. Xavier, wiped his tears and got up. He transformed Trance into a hammer.
And then the final battle near the Abandoned Palace began. All of us charged together. The Darknorian and Xorain army were fighting but all the ally chiefs and DELTAs came together to fight King Jalaar. Adonis went in first. He held a club in his hand, made for himself, and attacked. The King didn't show mercy either. He blocked it with Zhorkaria and kicked Adonis on the gut. He fell down and Wade came in next along with Master Polwern. Wade fired bullets from the best machine guns he had kept in stock. Master Polwern glided in the air and raised his hand towards the King and hot flame was launched. King Jalaar jumped high up in the air and pounced on Wade directly, not getting hit even once by the firing. The flame not only engulfed King, but also Wade who was fighting. Master Polwern immediately withdrew the energy.
Jalaar seemed to be unaffected by any attacks that were dealt to him. In the sky, I heard loud battle noises. Colloseus and Drakolleus had been going on since hours and not one had turned victorious yet. If this wasn't a war, I would have just sat on the field and gazed at the magnificent battle between the two dragons which had been going on. They began in the morning and now the Saphrop had begun to set. I realized that killing Jalaar had to be done quickly. Otherwise, we would have to wait another day. I screamed in rage and all DELTAs charged together.
The King felt no difficulty in taking on some more warriors. He was skillfully dodging and attacking. Many times, Master Polwern would be thrown on the ground with the trident; or Wade would be sent flying with a smack on the head. Jalaar even struck the trident on the ground and Xavier who was going to charge, fell down. Oliver got up even after the damage he had taken. Amanda along with him, charged the King. Oliver, though injured, still managed to be quicker than the King. In fact, he managed to throw King Jalaar on the ground. Amanda, who had been waiting for such a moment, went in for her signature move. She held the sword, Blizzard upside down and pounced on the King to kill him. But Jalaar blocked with Zhorkaria, kicked her off and got back up again.
The King was so focused into the fight that he didn't notice me coming from the side. I slashed Magnum on his head and he almost tripped and fell. He held his head and looked at me. It turned out that only my attacked had managed to damage him. The prophecy was correct – I was meant to kill him for once and for all. So I began the fight with King Jalaar!
