"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell . . ." He said in a comforting voice.
"No, I deserve it."
"What?"
In her peripheral vision, Cora saw a bouquet of white flowers just a few feet away from them. They both snapped out of the little moment they were drawn into.
"Where did those come from?" Cora asked.
"I don't know. Maybe they fell. We are surrounded by flowers,"
"Roses. We're surrounded by roses. And roses are red . . ."
"Someone's here . . . Oh my god it's him he's here!" A wave of fear rushed over Cora and the tears came flooding back. She knew it. She knew she would never be safe.
Out of nowhere, a thick splatter of blood hit the white roses. Now they were red. And then, she saw him. Adam was back. He jumped out from his hiding spot behind the bushes that sat at both sides at the end of the flowery pathway. Cora wanted to puke and so did Darren. Now they knew where the blood had come from. Adam held a chainsaw in his right hand. His left arm was on the ground, separated from his body.
"Don't you see I'd do anything to get you back?" Adam smiled, but it wasn't sweet at all, it was creepy.
"What is wrong with you?!" Cora shouted. Fear was nonexistent to her in this moment. All she could feel was anger. He traumatized her and ruined her life.
"Leave her alone you psychopath!"
Cora was slightly surprised. She's turned down his proposal but he managed to put his pride aside and fight for her. Or her safety anyway. But still, it was romantic.
Darren charged at Adam and with a flurry of hits, he was starting to go unconscious, but from the looks of it, Darren wasn't done with him yet. At the end of the path, it split into two ways: A path on the left, and a path on the right. In Between those two paths was a small waterfall. Cora knew what Darren's next move would be, but she didn't want to stop him from doing it.
He kicked the almost-passed-out Adam in the chest, sending him down the roaring waterfall and into the river.
The one doubt Cora had in her head was now gone. He had stood up for her. For real this time. She'd never have to worry about Adam again.
She ran up to Darren and engulfed him in a long romantic kiss. Darren pulled away, clearly confused. Cora went on to explain.
"I had this one doubt about you that was keeping me from saying yes to your proposal . . . I didn't know if you would ever stand up for me. But now I know you will,"
"B-but I did stand up for you in the past . . . I got Adam in jail,"
"Exactly, but I said he would come back and that I would never be safe from him,"
"And I told you you would be safe. I made sure of it . . ."
Cora smiled and so did Darren.
"Ask me again," Cora said, motioning for Darren to get on one knee. And so he did. He pulled out the ring and opened up the box. The tiny white diamond shined so bright, Cora could see her reflection.
"Cora Marianna Garcia, will you marry me?"
"Yes yes yes!"
Darren slid the ring on Cora's finger and they pulled each other into yet another kiss. Forgetting where she was, Cora slipped off the crest of the waterfall and brung Darren down with her. They braced themselves for the landing in the water and prayed for no broken bones. Once they hit the water, they laughed. They were stuck in a waterfall, but they were in it together. They didn't care if there was a dead body accompanying them in the water,
they were just happy to have each other. They kissed once again.
The End
