Chapter 68 - Childhood friends

Not wanting to cause unnecessary trouble Se-Young replied to him with a polite smile. “Hye.” and then turned her direction to leave but he stopped her again by grabbing her upper arm. “So… It looks like you don’t remember me.” Jae-In raised his eyebrows but his faced showed that he was a little sad that she did not recognized him.

She already had felt that he was familiar and now he was saying this so it meant that they really have met in the past. Frowning her eyebrows, she asked, “Sorry but have we met before this?”

Jae-In was really disappointed to hear that and it was clearly visible on his face. “Don’t you remember how we promised to become chefs because you really liked my father’s pastries?” he said giving her a questioning look.

Putting pressure on her brain, she was trying to remember if something like this ever happened to her and she gasped, now remembering her friend from middle school whose father had a big bakery in their neighborhood.

“In-In” she said his nickname to confirm and he smiled at her, nodding his head and without thinking much, Jae-In hugged his old friend whom he had not seen in the past thirteen years, making Se-Young startled a bit but she eventually hugged him back.

Their moment was disturbed by a poker face Dong-Hoon as he cleared his throat loudly to gain both of their attentions. “I believe this is the time to go back home.” he said looking back at Se-Young.

Jae-In knitted his eyebrows at the fact that why would their Hotelier even concern himself over them. “That’s none of your business, Sir.” Se-Young said giving him an annoyed look.

Dong-Hoon was not liking it even a tad bit. “I believe that you are the new executive chef and in charge of the Italian Cuisine.” Dong-Hoon now turned his face to the confused Jae-In.

Clearing his throat, Jae-In stretched his hand for a handshake. “Yes sir, I am Woo Jae-In. It is a pleasure to meet you.” Ignoring his hand Dong-Hoon turned back to Se-Young again and although he did not like the way she was hugging that new guy but he could not do anything about it so giving them a glare, he just left.

Se-Young noticed Jae-In’s confused state. “We have a lot to catch up. Dinner, my treat.” he nodded to her giving her his most charming smile.

...

“Tae-Hoon, will you not go with us today as well?” one of his classmates asked. Min-Hoon had decided not to keep him under the security anymore now that he was behaving.

He gave a smile to her and said while thinking about Ji-Hoon’s words, “Sorry, my wife would be waiting for me.” it was actually a great alibi for him.

His other friends started to hoot, “We have a loyal man here...” they were clapping loudly and Tae-Hoon just grinned and left from there.

“I guess you should stop going after a married man.” the friend of that girl said.

“It did not feel like he hated you.” Jae-In said to Se-Young when she told her whole story about how she ended up in Shim Mansion.

“You would not know, he really acts as if I am some kind of intruder.” she huffed and Jae-In chuckled looking at her. “You are still the same.” he was admiring her pretty face.

“I know, but you changed drastically. You were such a fatty and now look at you. I could not even recognize you.” she gave him a thumbs up and he just smiled looking at her lovingly.

“I am really glad that we met again like this.” he said, making sure that she would know how happy he was about meeting her again.

Chewing on the nail of his right thumb Dong-Hoon had two things wandering around in his mind. Firstly, the deal that had been blocked by Eun-Bi and second, that new guy. He was in the living room and his eyes were fixed on the door as Se-Young had not arrived home yet.

“Is it again about that plot?” Ji-Hoon asked him, sitting on the sofa beside him.

Dong-Hoon sighed dejectedly. “You will be shocked after getting to know the stumbling block.” he clenched his jaw and flared his nostrils to show his frustration.

Ji-Hoon snickered and asked, “I guess you have got some beef now.”

When Dong-Hoon told Ji-Hoon about Eun-Bi, he could not stop laughing. “I will kill you if you did not stop laughing this instant.” Dong-Hoon showed his fist to Ji-Hoon and he instantly put a finger on his mouth and controlled his laughter. “But is not this a love triangle? Min Eun-Bi likes you but you like sister Se-Young.” he said shaking his head.

Dong-Hoon widened his eyes. “What are you saying? I don’t like anyone.” he said louder than usual and cleared his throat looking here and there.

“Don’t act. Tae-Hoon told me.” he wriggled his eyebrows, teasing Dong-Hoon.

“That brat.” Dong-Hoon rolled his eyes and Ji-Hoon chuckled at him grimacing weirdly.

“I know you will not accept my help in any way but since you are not able to contact them, then why not go to that party.” Ji-Hoon suggested. “What party?” Dong-Hoon asked with confusion written on his face.

“You don’t remember that business corporation event on this Friday by Hwangs. I am sure you will find that man there.” Ji-Hoon suggested.

“Ughhhh, I hate business events.” Dong-Hoon was pulling out his hair. “And I will need a partner for that as well.” Just like a bell ringing, Ji-Hoon’s head also rang a bell that he too had to bring a date.

Now both of the brothers were thinking about one thing. “Date.”

...

Instead of thinking about the plot’s deal, Dong-Hoon was now more concerned over how to bring Se-Young as his date and he kept sighing and ruffling his head not knowing what to do inside his office. “Ahhhh, forget it. I will not go.” he huffed.

“At least I can try to get closer to her.” an evil idea was cooking in his mind.
