Chapter 1 - If I were to fall...

There was once a rose who fell in love with one of the lights in the sky, the first sun.

One day, the rose decided to confess to the sun. However, she noticed the land was colorfully decorated.

"Ah, the festival is coming," she had concluded after seeing the golden laced flags fluttering in the breeze.

She was handpicked as one of the entertainers in the festival and would be far too busy to look for her sun that day.

Evening came and she could no longer wait. When she heard a familiar laughter, the rose made her way through the festive crowds.

Her heart ached, dropping into a bottomless pit as she watched him holding hands with another flower.

The festivities were blindingly bright and her blurry tears did not help. Blue petals stained her path as she wandered off into the darkness away from the magnificent lights. She realized and understood just from glancing at the matchmade rings placed on their fingers, the sun chose someone else to be his flower.

And so the rose cried that night, withering and pale, hoping, "Maybe, if there is a next life, and if I fall for the same sun, I'll tell him how I feel."

His eyes fell upon the rose, curious of why the maiden was not enjoying the cheerful blossoms and lights of the night.

"Why are you crying?", asked the moon rabbit.

The Rose sniffled and replied,"My heart aches as I watch the one I love in the arms of another."

"Ah... I see. I too, had fallen for a star," the Moon Rabbit said.

RIIIINGGGG!

"Augh... school..." mumbled Elea.

She had been studying in the library, but had fallen asleep while reading utterly long blocks of boring text about religious history.

She sluggishly picked up her things and headed to her homeroom. it was 6:30 AM. Her long nights of studying were coming to a short end since her history midterm exam would be next period.

Bzztttt. She checked her buzzing phone.

It was Uncle Ed, the text said.

How did he get her phone number and what did he want? Elea crumpled her fist and took a deep breath that mostly sounded like a heavy sigh.

She stared down at the floor angrily and quickly paced towards the door.

She could already hear Professor Hemriff lecturing and pointing out which chapters everyone had trouble on the exams.

"Oof!" Elea bumped into a warm, red velvet sweater.

"Ah, Elea, late as usual. Welcome back to class," Professor Hemriff announced as the class laughed," I see you met our new student. Come in both of you."

I stood up straight to look at the tall figure appropriately.

His hair was a midnight black and his eyes the color of evening saphire.

He spat a glare at me, saying, "Watch where you're going," and, "Stop looking at me."

Exams were stressful enough. She didn't need another person to add onto her stress.
