Ashi(P.O.V)
Without uttering any other word, he sat beside me on the bench. How daring!? I laughed dryly at him.
"How are you now?" He asked, flashing his teeth in a smile like I had a severe accident. Probably, it was the most common way to start a conversation.
"Better!" I simply answered with a smile. DISAPPOINTMENT showed up on his face with a frown. Silence swallowed him and it made me chuckle to look at his petite face. I sympathised and thus asked him back.
"what's about you?" His eyes looked darker at night. He smiled like a ray of hope flashed on his face.
"I am good too," He said formally. We sat there silently not sure of what to say next. I looked into his eyes and got infatuated all again.
The things work so bizarrely in this world like we reside in such a vast world full of only two kinds of people i.e. male and female and yet we are destined to fall only for one out of thousands of their kinds. It is hilariously natural that we love, live with and die for only one person.
"Why do you stare at me like that?", He complained and I snapped back to reality.
Holy crap! I was completely at loss for words. I could only stare at him blankly. Why did he have to point it out loud? I was not going to get defeated like that.
" oh! it's because you are so handsome. Who will not fall for you? hmph!" I scoffed while shooting draggers on him. He broke into a laugh and patted my head.
"How daring!" I blurted out and he retreated his hand respectively.
"umm, I'm sorry!" he said with a faint smile.
"It's alright" I waved at him.
"But no apologies. It's you who was staring at me first and you still dare to frighten me.". Oh! it meant that he still hadn't realised how intimate he was acting.
" Ahh! you took me wrong, I say it's nothing. " I bit my upper lip sounding genuine. He scrolled his eyes round and sighed a breath.
"so you come here for....."
"for running of course!"
"I k...obviously! I know, people come here for running and relaxing" Bewildered, He was not expecting this.
He hesitated and uttered again, "Do I really sound so lame?"
"I didn't mean that" I flabbergasted.
"what do you mean then?" he was almost mad and shouting.
"wait! what happened?" I didn't know what was wrong with him and what to say to coax him. He tightened his grip on the right armrest while his eyebrows crushed near and so did mine.
"What wrong did I say, I just uttered the words. what hurt you that much?" it sounded awkward. I didn't even know this person and he was behaving as if I owe him answers. Seriously! He was the spoiler to my Happy time with nature.
"I-I am sorry." He admitted guiltily.
"It's okay. Apology accepted." I tried to bring up the atmosphere. "so what do you do, Mark?"
"Pursuing a bachelor's in St. Stephan's college of English and Foreign language", He answered in one swift leaving me speechless.
Such a coincidence! All I could say was " ohh". So we were going to meet often. Though it all counted on the fate that had already been inscribed for my life.
"And you? Ms Ashi!" He looked at me intently. No one had ever sent chills down my spine and there was this man. I thought for a while before answering not sure if one should count the chickens before they are hatched.
"I am thinking of applying for my graduation....in Precedency University". I cleared my throat. It had always been my rule that if you were confused between right and wrong, head in the middle. I preferred not to tell him that I was applying to the same college but rather let him know that I was applying to the same university.
"so you have decided to follow your sister. Haven't you? ", He asked casually, positioning his body straight and upward.
WTF! I eyed him," how do you know?"
He stopped. "oh!" He again brushed his eyebrow, maybe it's a habit or perhaps he was really unsure of his own answers. "It's because I have seen her. After all, we are in the same university. So, hard not to see"
"sounds reasonable" I retorted. Well, who cared about how he got to know, the city was too small to keep any secrets from spreading like rumours.
"say something about you"
"What about me?!"
"Anything like...." he pondered.
"Why about me?" I thought women were the most complex of all the creatures but that men took over the title.
"Because I wanna know you...more...", he hesitated. "I mean, I can help you out with your admission since we gonna be in the same university". I saw him steal a glance at me.
"For God's sake! how knowing about me gonna help me in admission. That was crazy. He was crazy." Too rude to utter the words loudly.
And silence for a moment!
I tried to absorb him within those seconds of silence, his decent face, his beautiful innocent eyes, the vines of his hair swirling on his forehead, his lips moving most elegantly and his figure in a perfect shape.
"you don't have to!" I snapped. I didn't need his guidance, I had a sister.
"But I want to!" he murmured. He circled his lips in a pout. Why do the most handsome boys have the most cringey attitude?
"What!", It was intolerable. He was intolerable. He was annoying me and I was letting him do so. My cheeks flushed red and I could feel it on my face.
With time, it became darker too. "I gotta go, see ya"
"my answer?" He murmured, focussing on his fingernails.
"GOODNIGHT!" I emphasized.
"Oh-kay, good night." He gave in and I turned back to go.
I felt him staring at my back and when I turned about to check, he was out of sight. Nowhere at all.
"Strange!" I sighed and went back to the place I belonged, home.
