"So, anything interesting going on in your life?" Liron questioned.
Across the way from him, Jemma pulled her gaze from the window to regard him. Liron tried not to avert his own gaze. At some point he was going to need to bury the hatchet with Jemma. May as well get it over with while they were stuck together anyway.
"Not particularly," she replied. He could tell by the way she was fidgeting with her skirts that she was anxious. It was what Jemma did whenever she was trying to keep herself from pressing her palms to her eyes.
"Oh," Liron smiled sheepishly.
Another round of awkward silence fell. Jemma returned her gaze to the window, and Liron stared at his feet. How was it he could rally the balls to propose to a girl he'd known less than a fortnight, but he couldn't make a simple confession and apology about something that had happened more than half a decade in the past? Taking a deep breath, he made the decision to try again.
