"Sir, you need to wake up." Emerick was woken, rather rudely, the following morning by Jacoby seizing and shaking him by the shoulders. Given the fact that Emerick was an early riser, this meant that it was extra early. Sure enough, as he blearily stared at the nearest window, he realized it was still quite dark outside.
"Forgive the rude intrusion," Ellie had picked Trixie up and was stuffing her in a pair of trousers, "but we're needed. A guard came running in with an announcement that the village is ablaze. Warden Caesar and the other guards have already departed to contend with the perpetrators and render emergency aid where possible, but our assistance is necessary as well."
"I can dress myself," Trixie protested groggily as Ellie forced a sweater over her head.
"You aren't moving fast enough," Ellie retorted.
"You haven't given me a chance to move at all!" Trixie replied.
