"Hey, uh, I think I will be heading out," Emerick announced out of the blue.
"Did something come up?" Rathus questioned in surprise. He had thought they were having a pretty good time together.
"You could say that..." Emerick replied with an oddly smug smile. "I fear I just remembered something that I need to see to. Have no fear though, I have every confidence that you will be well taken care of in my absence."
