Emerick lay awake, gently stroking Trixie's back as she gradually cried herself to sleep. He'd been forced to use his hypnotic voice as he sang a soft lullaby to sooth her. He needed her to sleep soundly for the next few hours, and he doubted she would do so without intervention.
"Never doubt that you're good enough for me," he whispered softly into her ear, though he knew she couldn't hear at this point. "If anything, I am the one who is unworthy."
Gently kissing the back of her neck, he carefully rolled out of the bed and retrieved his pants before making his way out of the room. He couldn't care less about his shirt or shoes. He wouldn't need them we're he was going.
