Trixie stared numbly as Arnwald continued his discussion. Not only was she distracted by the revelation that her friends and family were convinced she was pregnant, as Arnwald listed his expectations of her, she found herself feeling woefully inadequate for the role.
"You have been told, already, that you will be attending a wedding, I do believe," Arnwald was saying. "Now that the arrangements have become more official, let me provide more details. The Montpellier and Champollion families have been at odds, so to speak, from a time that predates the birth of the previous monarch. I doubt any one, even Count Deemer who is the oldest member of my court at present, can remember a time when there wasn't a feud. In fact, it's been going on so long, I doubt either family even remembers why they started despising each other so passionately..."
