A few days passed. Liron spent most of that time with his Jenna, as he liked to call her, and for the first time since the mess of an investigation had started, he felt like he was actually accomplishing something.
Thanks to the efforts of Duke Archibald and his men, each of the corrupt officers—with the exception of Lt. Cromwell who had died mysteriously—were currently behind bars and waiting to stand trial for their misdemeanors. Thanks to Jenna's uncanny skills in observation and deduction, they had helped the royal guard uncover all sorts of evidence. Liron felt a little guilty for his feelings, but nevertheless he was quite pleased about the fact that the deposed officers were facing a grim fate.
Some questionable activity on their part had also yielded promising information. As it turned out, the perpetrator had been taking trophies. They learned this the previous afternoon when the viscount had attempted to abduct another victim.
