A smile unconsciously formed on my lips as the following system dialogue popped up. I noticed the system had this function when I placed the corpse of the Prismatic Viper into my inventory.
「Crafting materials detected, would you like to craft something?」
Yes. Suddenly a new window came into being, showcasing the materials floating in an empty space. Uh, how do I use this?
After staring at the floating screen for a few seconds, I began to visualize myself moving the individual scales and coils just like how I tried to roll the dice before I was reincarnated. Look's like I was right. The coils began to move to my will and attached themselves to the scales.
I was hoping the crafting would be automatic, but this one is better. I can freely choose how and what I will create the item I had in mind. At the corner of my vision, I could see Elizabeth staring at me intently. I can't tell her I was crafting since that would ruin the 'sorcery' facade.' I'll think of an excuse later.
For now, this comes first. I began to attach the coils onto the holes in the scales one by one. Since it didn't need the dexterity of my fingers, doing this within my mind helps a lot.
After a few minutes of intense brain exercise, I have finally finished it. My masterpiece!
「Crafting Success!」
「You have crafted Nova Bracers (Unique)」
「You have introduced a unique item into the world」
「You have impressed the Gods with your invention」
「They would like to bestow you a blessing」
「Would you like to accept?」
The bracers I've created automatically entered my inventory, and a flood of text blocked my vision. Are the gods impressed with my genius? Awh, the system, you don't need to flatter me that much. Anyways, what are all these?
Blessing? The last time a God gave me a gift, I became a rat. It was kind of iffy for me to accept without knowing the details. I learned once, I'm never going to make the same mistake again. I quickly asked the system for further information about these so-called 'blessings' so that I can decide if I should accept or not.
「The God of Furnaces wants to bestow you: 「Hephaestus' Forge (EX)」」
「The Goddess of Wisdom wants to bestow you: 「Circlet of Omniscience (EX)」」
「The God of Chances wants to bestow you: 「Deck of Fortune (EX)」」
「The God of Hope wants to bestow you: 「Heavenly Paladin Armory (EX)」」
I stared at the four gods who've decided to give me a blessing. After reading the third line, I couldn't help but feel bitter. I tried to ask the system for details about the items they were giving me, but the system remained unresponsive. It looks like I need to obtain one of them before looking at its description.
Alright, time to decide. The first option, Hephaestus' Forge. The Greek God of Smithing's name even made it all the way here in another world. I don't know what kind of item that would be, but I'd be guessing a whole forge by the name. I don't like staying put in one location due to my weak species. Next.
Circlet of Omniscience, from the Goddess of Wisdom. Incredibly tempting due to the name, but there is one thing that puts me off. Being bestowed Omniscience by a God is like offering me to ascend to godhood, and I already knew from my experiences that this is too good to be true. Next.
... Next.
Heavenly Paladin Armory sounds like it came straight out of a cultivation novel. I have no qualms with this one. I'd accept, but. These would hinder my progress from becoming stronger. Yes, they would make me stronger than I currently am, but what if I rely on them too much? That would cause my untimely death. Next.
「You have declined the blessings of all the Gods.」
「The God of Furnaces snorts at your arrogance.」
「The Goddess of Wisdom applauds your reasoning.」
「The God of Chances laughs at your decision」
「The God of Hope feels confused by your comment」
Laugh all you want. I'm not giving in to your tricks again, God of Chances. Anyways, I need to show Elizabeth what I've created. Inventory.
「 Inventory (5/5):」
• 「Dice of Mending (1/3)」
• 「Partial Juvenile Sky Mirage Chimera Corpse」
• 「Lumen Alter Coils (335)」
• 「Prismatic Scales (2877)」
• 「Nova Bracers (Unique)」
I willed the bracers to exit the inventory. A magnificent pair of tubular armor pieces appeared out of thin air right in front of me. Its scales glimmered a golden hue at the edges, and a beautiful pearly white-coated its scaly exterior. It lacked the gauntlets that I planned to make, but since I didn't have a proper image of what Elizabeth's hands look like, that's all I could make.
"Take a look, it's yours," I gestured Elizabeth to come close. She immediately grabbed the bracers off the ground and wore them instantly. She slid the bracers over her forearm, and I couldn't help but feel like my design was out of place with her species. The gold and white went against her verdant green scheme. Oh, well.
I've already thought of an excuse to cover it as sorcery, "Those bracers would allow you to use the basic sorcery I've taught you just a while ago, but at an even greater scale," Pun intended.
"H-how do I use this?" Elizabeth asked, excited about utilizing the power of the bracers I've created.
"Let us head out first. You need the power of the sun to make it work," I waved my tail towards the door, and we exited the house.
As we walked outside. Her bracers glittered beautifully, reflecting the sun. I couldn't help but be reminded of a disco ball. I should tell her about the camouflage feature of the bracers, but that's for later.
"Now, hold your arms at an angle that reflects the power of the sun," I guided. The bracers had two active abilities, and to activate the first one, you have to reflect light at an angle.
Elizabeth lifted her hands, and the magnificent glow of the sun seems to be absorbed by the bracers, "Now, the final part. To release the power of the sun you must cross your arms and collide the bracers with each other," That was a lie. You just needed to make the bracers touch, and it will activate.
It was then...
CLANG!
MY EYES! THEY HURT! A brilliant flash of light blinded me temporarily as Elizabeth crossed her arms. All I could see was white and the faint outline of things. Is my vision going to get worse? I thought worriedly. After a few moments, my eyesight began to return to normal, and the first thing I saw was Elizabeth admiring the power of those bracers.
It seemed like she wasn't affected by the flash of light, "Sir Vaeden, what strong sorcery is this?! You said this was basic!" Elizabeth shouted in shock, pointing at the bracers.
"It is basic," I said casually. I was just exploiting the twisted laws of this world, which worked splendidly, "That's all I will teach you for now," I said, acting like a cool mentor.
Elizabeth nodded her head in agreement, "I understand. You have analyzed me and decided that I can not handle more power than this. Thank you, Sir Vaeden," She knelt on one knee and lowered her head in gratitude.
Uh, I just said that because I ran out of ideas to teach her. I nodded my head slowly, and she responded with a smile, "I will use your teachings to my best," She continued slowly, standing up.
"There's one more thing those bracers can do, Eli," I said. Her eyes widened once more as her gaze switched from the bracers to me.
"B-but it's already strong...t-there's more?!" She exclaimed in shock. I simply nodded my head.
"Lightly shake your bracers," I guided her. She lifted her arms once more and began to shake them lightly. The bracers that gleamed in the sunlight slowly began to disappear. Elizabeth's eyes widened once again. With the number of surprises she's been getting, I won't be surprised if she gets a heart attack right here, right now.
"Sir Vaeden, T-the bracers! T-they're gone?!" She exclaimed, her eyes darting around her, trying to look for it.
"Fear not, Eli. Simply touch your arms where the bracers are located," I told her calmly.
She began to move her fingers towards her forearms, and a sudden realization occurred within her, "I-I can feel it?! It's here?!" she exclaimed once more like a child finding her long-lost toy.
"Yes, so that your enemies don't expect you're wearing armor. It can turn invisible as long as you will it to be," I said, walking towards her and tapping it with my stinger.
Tink. Tink.
"Sturdy. You can use it to guard your body with your forearms, and when you're ready to counterattack blind them with the power of the sun!" I exclaimed as well. Elizabeth knelt down once more.
"I can't thank you enough for bestowing me something so powerful," She said, lowering her head.
"Tis nothing," I replied casually, "Now, my student. Go and try out your new found power with the monsters that try to intrude your land," I commanded her.
She simply nodded her head and began to walk towards the forest. She was too excited to even bid me goodbye. I'm a bit sad. Oh, well. It's time for me to give something to myself. I just have enough materials to craft what I want.
「You have begun to craft...」
「The Gods have begun to watch you intently」
