Chapter 1 - Oil vs. Water

Shit! I overslept! I woke up to the sound of someone puking next to my bed. I look down to see that I am completely naked. I pull the sheet off of the guy I had sex with last night; to cover up. I rushed to my wardrobe, rapidly browsing through it; a sharp pain banged my head, causing me to fall to the floor instantly. A hangover from the night before; It wasn't very wise to have a party the day before the school year begins. Once I chose my outfit, I rushed to the kitchen to grab some water and an aspirin. I stumbled upon a dude laying butt naked, starfish style, on the floor. They drew a smiley face on his cheeks; I rolled my eyes and leaped over him. Today is dorm registration day; I have no time to waste if I wanted to be correctly paired. I still live with my parents, and I want my freedom. The school is an hour away by car, but I am a werewolf. Thus, I have the ability to sprint there and reach in about 10 minutes.

When I arrived, the front door was closed, and there was not a soul in sight. I knocked on the door aggressively, and a janitor came running out with a mop in hand and slipped when he saw who it was; me.

"What? Am I that ugly?" I chuckled, gradually changing my expression to neutral. He stood there staring at me; I could smell the fear off of him. And I mean that literally; he's a skunk.

"Well, what are you waiting for?!" He jumped and hurried to unlock the door. I pushed the door open, shoving him in the process, causing him to release another terrible odor.

One person that I am yet to intimidate is Miss. Alvara Kane, she's in the eagle league. Eagles, Falcons, and Owls are in charge of the security and registrations. Miss. Alvara is an eagle.

As I walk up to the front desk, Alvara slightly pulls down her glasses and raises her brows.

"You're late."

"Good day to you too, Alvara." I lean against the buro waiting for her to pull up my name.

"Due to your late arrival, there is no guaranty that you will be assigned with someone of the same breed, and you should also know that once the contract is signed in the case of any inconvenience, the school will not be to blame."

"I get that."

"Now, let's see..." She whispers, flipping through pages.

"Mazikeen Nightmare, you will be assigned with Orphil Evermore."

"Orphil? Who is that? What breed?"

"I"m sorry, but I cannot disclose that information to you."

"That's bogus!" I rage and slam my fist on the counter, creating a dent. And she doesn't even flinch; this angers me.

"Room 374." She says with a blank expression. I roll my eyes and walk off, giving her the middle finger.

I head up to my room; it was still empty; I marked my territory and set up my side of the room. I rested on the bed, still trying to ease my headache when suddenly a reeking stench of blood crept up my nostrils. I barked as the scent intensified my headache. It gave the sensation of knives slowly inserting into my brain. I jumped up. I reached in front of this person in 0.5 seconds. A red aura surrounded him.

"What the hell is this?! Is this a joke?!" I yelled

"Do you see me smiling? I'm not too fond of this either."

Werewolves and vampires don't mix; they are like oil and water. They have nothing in common like sugar and salt. My name is Mazikeen Nightmare, but everyone calls me Maïz. I am 19 years old. I have long curly gold hair; my dress style is very dark. I'm enrolled in an academy for the talented. I study acting, singing and dancing. I am usually a solo learner, but this year the rules have changed. I must join a girls' group if I want to pass this school year. I cringe at the thought of that.

"Stay out of my way!" I calmed down and took a seat on my bed. All of this conflict just amplified my pain.

"I heard about you," he chuckled, my ears twitched, and I growled.

"I won't become your bitch." He spoke under his breath, conscious that I could hear him.

I barked and jumped up; it's a fight he wanted.

" I came here first; this is my territory."

He laughs to my face, "You dogs; so obsessed with what's yours, you're a pretty little thing, aren't you?" he whispers into my ears, caressing my face.

I smack his hand away; throw him on his bed, pinning him down by the neck. I slowly dragged my sharp nail across his right cheek; he shows his fangs as he closes his eyes and winces in pain. His eyes spring open, and he pushes me off of him and onto my bed.

"You're a sick bitch!" He runs out of the room with his hand on his cheek. I grinned, and just like that, my headache was gone.

I left the dorm and freshened up in the showers. I made my way to the dance studios for tryouts.

This years' theme is girls versus boys. Each group needs to present an outstanding musical play, and the best one gets the mystery reward. Everyone has extraordinary talents in this academy, and we win every year against other schools.

I enter the room, and the smell of sweat hits my nose. Magnificent. People are flying all over the room, trying their best to be chosen. Here is the only place that I play fair.

After tryouts, the announcements begin.

I was selected to be in a group with; Amoux (eagle wolf), Lowe (Little wolf), Ayame (Demon princess wolf), and Tamaska (mighty wolf).

We howl at the end of selection because we become a pack and the Alpha was Ayame.

I return to my dorm to pick up my bag to head back home to collect the rest of my belongings and clean the place before my parents return.

When I opened the door, I stepped into a pool of blood. I swung the door open ready for a fight, but instead, the same idiot boy from earlier faces me, but this time one of his friends tagged along; he also was a vampire. They were getting drunk off of blood.

"Do you vampires drink anything else but blood?" I rhetorically asked.

"No way dude, is this the chick who attacked you?" His friend says, slurring his words clearly out of it.

"In the flesh," Orphil says, staring me down.

"Dude! She's hot. You need to bang that!" He was about to touch me, but I gave him this stern look and, he glanced at Orphils' face and then retracted his hand.

"Here, have a drink," The drunken friend hands me a cup running over with blood; I growl, and Orphil tries to calm his friend.

"Yow, Drack chill! She's not one of us; she's a werewolf."

Drack eyes widen, giving the impression that they were about to fall out of their sockets.

"Are you serious, dude? What are you doing? You can't do that."

Orphil gave up on trying to explain to this intoxicated human being and shifts his attention to me.

Orphil: Um, Hey, sorry about earlier, I instigated everything. I see you've got some moves. I did not expect that.

Maïz: Fuck off, mate, we will never be friends. You're just a roommate.

Orphil: Does that make sense to you? If we have to live in the same room together, we need to get along!

Maïz: Oh, don't be a bitch about it! I could give two shits about your feelings. We don't match!

Orphil: Well, screw you! I was only trying to be nice! If you want me to be a jerk, fine!

Maïz: Get out of my way; I need to leave.

I demanded while grabbing my keys from my night table.

He blocks the exit with his entire body; he was rather muscular. I walked up to him and looked up in his eyes; he's a couple of inches taller than me; I could sense his ego kicking in. His eyes turn red and mine yellow. I had to push my rage far down to the pit of my stomach; I did not want to risk suspension this semester. It was like he could read my thoughts. He grins, and I dig my nails in his wrist.

I could rip him apart in just seconds, but I chose not to.

Orphil: You have no idea where I am from; I could make your life a living hell.

Maïz: I don't care about your life. I want to go home.

I wined, slowly getting frustrated.

Maïz: Maybe you intimidated the students at your old school, but you sure as hell don't scare me!

I yelled, pushing him back. He tripped and fell to the ground. I walked around him and ran my way home; I needed to get the work done on the house.

When I reached back home, it was 11 A.M, and there were still people lying around the house. I woke them up one by one and ordered them to leave; some puked on me, on the floor, in the toilets, even in my mom's expensive vases. I found unexpected items all over the house; this would take a whole day to clean.

In the kitchen, I found a girl's underwear in the frying pan. I was in complete disgust. I took a break on the couch, and in about 10 minutes, I heard noises coming from upstairs.

I sped upstairs and found two people getting it down on my parents' bed. They didn't even notice me; I sat in the side chair and watched. After a while, the boy saw me; he froze up but then got back into the rhythm. This didn't stop him. He continued and undressed me in his mind. The noise leaving from her mouth aroused me. I ironically clapped slowly, and the girl jumped up, trying to cover herself.

Maïz: There's no need. I saw all that I needed to see already.

I grinned as I could see the fright and embarrassment upon her face. She was about to leave the room, but I stopped her and demanded that they finish.

When they were done, she rushed out of the room in tiers. The boy, however, left with pride.

I finished cleaning the house then went straight to bed.

The next day my parents arrived back home and didn't suspect a thing. I said my goodbyes to them as I would permanently be staying in my dorm. I had an acting class first thing in the morning—Romeo and Juliet, what a cliché.

The professor pulled the designated roles out of a large bowl. It is that faithful morning that I discovered that Orphil and Drack are in the same class as I.

I was assigned with Drack, me as Juliet, and him as Romeo. Orphil would be Juliet's father, and my pack would be the rest of Juliet's family. For some reason, Orphil kept staring me down, making me uneasy. I wanted to go over there and smack some sense into his head, but I contained myself.

As the play goes on, I get irritated by the number of times we were interrupted by something completely idiotic. Either someone forgot their line, or someone fell.

I forgot to mention that the plays we perform are completely modified. There is singing and dancing as well.

In the final scene, Drack and I are supposed to kiss as I drift off into eternal slumber, but just at that moment, I heard a loud thud. I open my eyes to see these two kids battling each other. Drack on the ground and Orphile above him, punching the living light out of him.
