Chereads / I am Kryptonian / Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Under the blazing sun, Jason was hugging anything he could get his hands on. Despite being invulnerable to most things under the sun he was still afraid. The reason being was a pink hair princess behind the wheel.

In a mostly empty parking lot, after setting up various cones. Jason was currently attempting to teach Lala how to drive. Well, attempting was a stretch as she figured it out in minutes...a little too well. Now she was drifting around the course happily laughing as if she was in a Fast and Furious movie.

'I really hate you right now Liz for suggesting this.' Jason thought to himself. "Lala, why don't you slow down."

"Why? Isn't this fun?" Lala asked clearly not seeing his terrified face.

"Fun?" Jason mumbled to himself as if it was a forign concept.

As the car came to a complete stop, Jason in less than a second took the keys from Lala. He had no plans of letting Lala drive again anytime soon. If Lala wants to drive again she can find either James or Liz.

"Huh?" Lala asked, confused as she saw the dangling keys in his hands. "I wasn't done yet."

"Yeah you are." Jason replied. "You just didn't know it."

Pouting as she unclicked her seatbelt, Lala refused to talk to him as he drove home. She felt he was being too unfair in his decision.

--

After returning home and an hour away from him. Lala once more by Jason's side as if she was totally over matter about her driving skills. Now, the two were In the basement of the farmhouse where game consoles and games lined the walls. From arcade games to some of the latest computers sitting beside each other, it was basically a gamer dream cave.

While it was an impressive sight, most of the games were still wrapped up and unopened. Turning on the pair of computers, Jason looked at Lala who was looking at the sight. Despite being living here for a little over a month, she has never been to the basement.

"I didn't know you or your father were gamers?" Lala commented.

"While I do play games from time to time. I wouldn't call myself a big enough gamer to have all this." Jason gave a short explanation. "Truthfully neither is Father, but he created this room in memory of his previous sons."

"Brothers? They have been mentioned a couple times but how come I haven't seen a photo of them?" Lala asked curiously.

While he knew she meant no harm in asking, it was a slightly sensitive subject. "They are dead and have been for some time. They were twins born half human and half kryptonian. Back when they were born, Father didn't even know if he could ever have children. Yet, once he learned of the news he was over joy but that is where the trouble begins."

"In the beginning, they were no different from normal children their age. Sometimes there would be a slight glimpse of their powers. As they grew older, the son who was a big gamer began to develop powers. Only as he developed them, his human half couldn't handle it and he would endure a major backlash."

As Jason began to narrate and explain, Lala listened in shock at parts. Soon, a thought became apparent in her thoughts as she never saw any of these reactions in Jason. So, she wondered if he already fully developed his powers or if he wasn't half human.

"In the end, they could live a few centuries. However, unlike Father who was still kicking after all this time, their human half couldn't withstand the passage of time. So they soon passed away from age." Jason finished explaining. "Now enough about that, it's time to play."

--

"Umm, Jason I died again." Lala called out.

Playing Phasmophobia, a game about hunting ghosts. The two were currently attempting to draw the ghost out for a photo. Yet, instead of appearing nicely, it began to hunt them.

As the ghostly fingers were dragged across her screen, Lala sighed. This wasn't the first or second time she died. She had died in nearly every game she played so far. At first she didn't know how to play and foolishly continued to walk around during the hunt. Now she has a general idea yet always dies either being grabbed through the walls or entering the room the ghost spawns in.

Yet, despite all this she was having fun, frustrated a bit but still having fun.

"Ah, I think you died of a bug this time?" Jason answered as he watched her character basically strangle themselves.

The ghost basically just instantly appeared behind her and killed her with barely any warning. It was one of the funniest one he saw the entire time they were playing. Usually it would be him who always gets hunted and killed when he plays.

"A bug?" Lala asked. "I died from a bug."

"Meh, it's far from a perfect game or well balanced. Truthfully I'm sure we could create some of our own patches for it if we tried." Jason answered as he finally found the third evidence after nearly a half hour of waiting.

"Can't you use your superspeed to create one in minutes?" Lala asked.

"Please, the input lag would cancel that out." Jason countered. "Before we play this again, we can spend some time working on fixing these issues."

"If there is a next time." Lala grumbled.

Truthfully if she keeps dying either to luck or glitches, Jason wasn't sure if she would want to play this game again. It wasn't fun to constantly die in a game if one didn't go in expecting it.

"Err...Lala. You died to the spirit again." Jason commented earning a glare.

"I basically died to every ghost except the demon." Lala huffed.

It would be a few hours later after returning from work James would find Lala, beating on Jason. Apparently after dying a few times they switched games and Jason conquered her entire civilization twice.
