Chereads / Omnipotent Destroyer / Chapter 48 - Overwhelmed

Chapter 48 - Overwhelmed

"Come on, you son of a bitch!"

Kolos' eyes slowly gained visibility and velocity but it was only then he realized that his target was not where he should be, that is, under him.

His claws hit the ground and made a crater.

"!!!"

Clang!

Kolos hurriedly raised his claws to defend but as he was caught off guard, he was still inflicted with some damage.

(His skin is tough as metal!)

"You… how did you…?"

"Shut up, lizard."

Clang! Clang! Boom!

Both of them exchanged blows with each other. Both of them used their superhuman physical abilities to the fullest. Not one of them wanted to back down.

"Hup!"

Sou kicked off the ground and lifted his body above Kolos', spinning his body laterally with the help of Wind like a whirlwind.

Fire blazed the blade and the whirlwind turned into a fiery fury.

"Tch!"

For the first time, no I think it's the second time, Kolos used the Fire element to counter Sou flurry.

"HAHAHA! See! I am a dual Elementalist too!"

(Hoh… I see…)

A smirk emerged on Sou's lips as he increased the intensity of fire on his blade.

The flames clashed and formed a huge flame cloud. Of course, our main characters on stage were left unscathed, well, not unscathed. They were inflicted with a fair share of injuries.

Sou's flames were superior to those of Kolos as of the moment since Kolos was using a body that was not compatible with the Fire element. Now, a question arises. How did Kolos use Fire fiercely before Sou was killed? That was because Drago's body was numbed by the sudden take over of Kolos, and his body rejected all elemental affinities, allowing Kolos to use HIS element as much as he liked.

(Fool.)

Sou knew this and raised his Fire, resulting in this huge cloud of fire. It was the result of a meticulous ploy.

The cloud was still eminent when a shadowy figure emerged from the cloud and appeared in front of Kolos.

But before Kolos could do anything, the figure's presence disappeared without a trace.

(Stealth Arts. Didn't think I would be using it like this.)

An excruciating pain emerged from Kolos' back. He blazed his Fire Element once again. But this time, as I said, it was a failure. It was feeble and was barely reaching Sou.

It was the result of using an element that is not compatible with one's body. But still…

"Hoh… you can still use an element? Quite impressive." Sou was honestly praising him… with an ulterior motive in his head.

Kolos lost the cool he was keeping until now and was now on a full rampage. He swung his claws like a fanatic, flames covering them, but Sou dodged them with ease.

Drago's body reacted to the use of an incompatible element and the flames covering the claws changed into Lightning. But that didn't affect Kolos' blind rage, well, not exactly 'blind rage', let's say… a tantrum. But be it a tantrum or rage, it becomes a whole lot easy to predict the enemy's moves, and Sou didn't let this chance go.

Swish! Fwip! Fwoosh!

Lightning sparked and danced on Kolos' claws as the claws moved at lightning speed. It was really fast, very fast. With all honesty, Sou could not see the movements of the claws, and in the end, he would be torn by the claws, or that's what it should have happened. One's body is linked with the state of one's mind, the more agitated the mind is, the more untactfully will the body move.

Sou never dodged the attacks. He predicted the attacks and planned his next step, an easy tactic, all by exploiting a single fact.

But that rage didn't last too long. Kolos came back to his senses after realizing his blunder. Truly, what a foolish blunder!

Now that he figured out the path of his downfall, the only thing he had to do now was to avoid it.

Lightning mana swirled around Kolos frighteningly, releasing a strong gust of wind.

"Urk!"

The Lightning disappeared and Kolos left with a dumbstruck expression on his face.

"...?" Even Sou had no idea what was happening. He was pretty sure that he was on the defense. So what was that groan? There were no signs of any life around them. They were alone, it was certain. So why did Kolos groan? Surely it wasn't because of Sou's previous attack. That was a long time ago and Kolos was still not in a condition to feel bouts of pain after a considerable amount of time has passed.

"..."

"..."

Both of them stared at each other. One was staring with a sheepish face and the other was staring with contempt.

Ignoring the previous failure, Kolos again summoned Lightning, and this time it was a full-fledged control. The lightning danced beautifully and clung to Kolos.

(... what was that all about?)

Fwoosh!

Kolos blasted off towards Sou without a second thought. The control of the lightning mana was masterful.

(As expected of an ancient Dragon…)

But this was not the time to be awed. Kolos was fierce at the moment. Sou felt that his life could be in danger if he didn't do anything.

Boom!

Sou barely managed to graze past the ferocious lightning.

"Phew… Hup!"

Kolos rampaged and rampaged without any breaks and Sou continued to counter and evade without any breaks. Mana clashed, sparks flew, blood splurted, intent exchanged. The battle was very intense. They felt their bodies become heavier with each blow and they were running terribly low on stamina. Even though Kolos was a Dragon, no, an ancient Dragon, even he has a limit on stamina.

Boom! Bam! Clang!

"Huff… huff... "

"Huff…"

They did not stop. Their hands and legs moved without rest and their eyes did not, not even once, lose the murdering glimmer.

"Gah!"

The claws dug deep inside Sou's side. Enduring the pain, Sou swung his Lightning-imbued katana. Kolos could not evade in time and his left eye was cut off and plopped on the ground.

"Argh!"

Kolos took some steps back while keeping his hand on the empty socket.

Sou didn't grove Kolos any chance to stabilize and rushed while still enduring the pain.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Blood was streaming down from Sou's side and blue blood dripped down from the empty socket of Kolos' eye.

The battle continued and was progressing at a scary pace. Uncertainty clouded the clashes. A single mistake could tear their bodies apart.

Time seemed to enjoy the bout between the two as it seemed to move slowly.

Sou was slowly getting pushed to a corner. It was getting hard for him to keep up with Kolos now. The limits of a human being were now creeping up to him. The number of injuries increased on his body and he struggled to move his body.

"Fuck!" He cursed out aloud, irritation and struggle were clearly visible.

"Haha! So you are finally loosening up?"

Kolos' mocking made a vein pop up on Sou's forehead. Mustering everything he had, Sou infused all elemental mana he had in his katana and swung it at full force. Kolos tilted his body to evade the strike but…

"Mana's Authority!"

A great surge of mana struck Kolos from above and he was pinned immobile.

"What is this?!" Completely overwhelmed by the heavy mana above his head, Kolos somehow managed to scream. But before he could take any guess…

Squish!

....

Hmm... I guess it's about time I make my appearence.
