Ram was a Human Being and Em was an A.I. , who were merged after using The Bead of The Institute. They were supposed to be inside The Living Soul World after their merger, but they were now inside The Nonliving Soul World.
They wanted to return to their world after they learned it was dangerous for them to be inside the Soul World. But they don't know how. They also couldn't use the Powers of Time provided by The Bead of The Institute inside The Soul World.
So they wanted to find a way for the both of them to return to their world and use The Powers of Time to help Aunt El and others in organizing what was left of The Institute.
Chitra, The Head of The Nonliving Soul World offered to get them out of The Soul World provided they get The Soul Bead that was at Bharghav's palace, who was The Head of The Living Soul World.
The only one who has the access to The Soul Bead was Bhumi, the legitimate heir to Bharghav and The Soul Bead was a family heirloom that she was supposed to be sharing with her husband.
