Chapter 1 - The Mirror

Crystal

When I awoke, I stared directly into the mirror in front of my bed. I'm Crystal Sliver, queen of the kingdom of Khione, the region of Alcyeonices. The other Kano students are about to start. I start in an hour or two after them so no one knows where I am, and find my identity. The council is scared if my identity is found that they will try to assassinate me, like my parents. I try to avoid that topic. I grab my crown with the white gemstone inside of it. There are little rows of pearls draping from the mettle band, which is circular and fits around my head just right. In the middle of the front is my gem. Gems in our world are a source of power representing your region. Most powerful gems are usually with the leaders of that region.

I put my crown on staring back into the mirror, my white silver hair flows down my back, my eyes a blinding white. My skin is fair. Wearing my black clothes to hide under the ice blue cloak. It's a good thing the kid didn't see me the other day, in the training yard. He had short ruff brown hair, and light skin. I believe what appeared to be his friends, called him Jayce. I couldn't tell but his eyes seemed to be a shade of brown that looked like tree bark.

I headed down to the training yard, so I could practice on my skills. I knew how to use a gem which meant I could choose any weapon at any time. When I finished, one of the men that worked in the castle took me to a nearby tower. We entered there was a narrow staircase going down into a black abbis. As I touched the bottom, the staircase opened up into a chamber. When we got to the bottom I couldn't see. A torch in the middle of the hall lit up. Lining the long hallway were torches. There seemed to be a terrible smell. The man was gone and I was alone. I just hope luck is on my side.

I walked through the hall. It slowly went down, the walls looked older and like it was about to crumble. The floor and air had become damp. I could feel the lights had gotten dimmer. The smell had gotten stronger. Something was nearby. I could tell because there were bones with freshly eaten meat. As I went deeper and deeper in the meat on the bones looked older so did the bones. I looked on the walls at symbols and pictures on the walls. Some of them had warriors fighting monsters, battles, and wars. Each of their weapons had gems and crystals.

I could only assume they were the original warriors of the first war.

I started to see nest piles and big scales on the ground. As I kept going I could hear noises and sounds of something breathing, or even growling. I started crossing out ideas of what it could be. I knew it must have a nest deeper inside, because there hasn't been a water source around. After about 30 minutes I found water on the floor. As I kept following the source it turned into a stream. I reached the end and it turned out to be a fresh source of crystalized water. It was fresh and glowed, like the full moon in the clear night sky. I pulled out the satchel that I hid under my cloak. I had a couple of water canisters that were pretty empty and decided to fill them up with water. I decided to rest for an hour or so. Since these trials could take days to complete, I stocked up on a couple of rations and supplies.

I wanted to doze off, but I knew better than to sleep next to the water source that's around for the next five sections. I went back and took a couple of turns and found a small room. It had a sturdy door, so I set up camp and slept for a while. When I awoke there was a small reptile trying to get some of the food I had in my bag. I picked up the bag slowly so I wouldn scare it off. I pulled out a small container with dried meat, and set it down for the reptile. It accepted my peace offering. Now that I got a closer look at it the skin looked like a pale blue. It had a couple of scales and two little wings to match the body. It was lined with white, and had hints of purple.

It was cute since it was smaller than my thumb. It also had this cute little roar, occasionally it would freeze my fingers with her breath. While I played with the little one I called it Cilora which means little light.

After a while it would get in my palm and glow a little light. . While I played with the little one I called it cilora which means little light. It seemed to be a female. I started on my journey leaving my little friend behind. After fighting some creatures I decided to find another source of water since the creatures provided some food, after I filled up my water in another crystal pond, IFound a nice spot to make a fire to cook food. When I set up the camp, other than the fire, I couldn't find any of my fire stones. Around the corner of a corridor there was a small glow. I went to check it out and I found the little reptile from before. I took her back to the camp.

I was watching Cilora play with the empty jars I brought to store magic items in. Cilora looked over at me and then looked at the empty fire I set up. Cilora ran over and started to glow brighter and brighter until there was a tiny flame. I sat up quickly and warmed the flame up d\so it would grow. I looked at Cilora and nodded my head to thank her. She knew what I meant by the way she twirled in a circle. She then walked over to my crown and touched the gem. The middle of her head was glowing like the gem. It was strange but I decided to ignore it till I got some rest and food. I cooked some of the meat I had gotten from the creatures and went to sleep alongside the little reptile.
