Chapter 200 - Ten of Swords

Ten of Swords

This card is ugly. It's a man with swords in his back and facing the ground. My dad was shocked how I named this card the Julius Ceasar card. It speaks of betrayal, defeat, and from the looks of it; death. It's pretty negative upright but reversed, upside down, one can look at the card as the swords falling out. Which would be a great relief! But on the negative side, the swords are still there. This man has gone from being stabbed in the back to now having the swords stab him even more in the body because if the card is upside down. The weapons pierce him even more, especially the one in the head.

This card isn't good at all. As for symbolism, we have a river in the background. [Google] a path that one must take but can also highlight the descent into or out of something.

With that in mind, this man was traveling and 1) was ambushed 2) followed, and murdered.

What if he was trying to cross the river? Did someone not want him to leave?

Also, it is the night which is perfect for an ambush, there aren't many people around at night to witness anything. This card could look like a win! If this is an enemy, then it is relief from evil itself. As he is laying down he has two fingers.

2: [Google] The number 2 symbolizes many of the basic dualities: me/you, male/female, yes/no, alive/dead, left/right, yin/yang, and so on. Dualities are common in human approaches to the world, probably because of our preference for two-valued logic—yet another duality, true/false.

So, this could be about a bet loss and the man suffers the consequences.

Another note is that this card shows the color red draped over the man and not due to respect. When people die, you may place a cloth over their eyes. There is a lot of hate behind this card.

Red: [Google] Red has a range of symbolic meanings in many different cultures, including life, health, vigor, war, courage, anger, love, and religious fervor

10: [Google] This number symbolized unity arising from multiplicity. Moreover, it was related to space. A single point corresponds to 1, a line to 2 (because a line has two extremities), a triangle to 3, and space to 4. Thus 10 also symbolized all possible spaces.
