Chapter 166 - Man and The Devil

Let's look at card combos.

The Hanged Man is a simple card. A man dangling by his foot while attached to a pole. Can he get free? Does he want to get free? Why is he up there?

If this card is upside down, the man isn't really struggling, he just has a rope on his foot that he get loose since he's standing upright while the other is the man hanging, that's trouble. He crosses his legs to make a 4 and his arms are behind him so he might be tied up. Also, he's on a cross.

Compared to Jesus or Peter, them being hung is a punishment. Peter was placed upside down because he didn't think to be hung like jesus, says text.

Meanwhile, placed upright on the cross is better than hanging upside down. The body can only take so much until blood leaks out your nose.

With that in mind, the hanged man is trouble. There is danger and he may not can escape it.

4 - [Google] In terms of symbolism, number 4 is associated with self-expression and self-fulfillment. The number 4 is also a representation of maturity and stability of mind. What is this? If one year has its four seasons, then so does your life have a deeper feeling of meaning and purpose when the number 4 appears in your life.

So... was the man hung for expressing himself? Did he do something out of greed? When talking about maturity, well, I think he lacks it. The stability of the mind in this case may mean backwards thinking.

Again, we have a cross in the background.

Cross - [Google] cross, the principal symbol of the Christian religion, recalling the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the redeeming benefits of his Passion and death. The cross is thus a sign both of Christ himself and of the faith of Christians

Being placed on a cross this way. God really doesn't like you.

Redeeming - [Google] compensating for someone's or something's faults; compensatory.

2.

able to save people from sin, error, or evil.

The hanged man is upside down and hanging by a foot. I don't think he can be saved. But also, what is there to be redeemed? Has this person committed a wrong and paying for it, now they are looking to right it?

Speaking of the devil now.

This card looks treacherous, you got the devil once again. A demon on a podium that is holding a man and a woman by chains

This card has to do with attachments as seen by the people chained to the podium and the demon standing above it is like saying the devil is in control.

It might also be a play on the sin of lust. By how the woman and man are standing, this is similar to holy matrimony. If the devil is in the marriage, there is infidelity.

Despite the definition...

Lust - [Google] very strong sexual desire

It doesn't always concern sex. If you are lusting after somebody, you are cheating when you already have a relationship. If you have no one and chase after somebody, you have greed.

Greed - [Greed] intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food.

OR SEX! Keyword: Desire

So, another interpretation is greed. The couple may be greedy as a whole or individually. Other crazy scenarios, the wife killed the husband for his sin which is wraith. Again the devil is also holding four fingers.

But it's the devil. So, the devil is on a podium and controlling the minds of the two sinners.

Also, there is a torch in his right hand. Do you know about the left and right hands?

[Left][Wikipedia] They often reject societal convention and the status quo, which some suggest is in a search for spiritual freedom. As a part of this, LHP followers embrace magical techniques that would traditionally be viewed as taboo, for instance using sex magic or embracing Satanic imagery.

[1]:β€Š197β€Š As Mogg Morgan wrote, the "breaking of taboos makes magic more potent and can lead to reintegration and liberation, [for example] the eating of meat in a vegetarian community can have the same liberating effect as anal intercourse in a sexually inhibited society."[8]

They often question religious or moral dogma, instead adhering to forms of personal anarchism.[1]:β€Š198β€Š

They often embrace sexuality and incorporate it into magical ritual.

[Right][Wikipedia] The Right-Hand Path is commonly thought to refer to magical or religious groups which adhere to a certain set of characteristics:

They divide the concepts of mind, body and spirit into three separate, albeit interrelated, entities.[5]

They adhere to a specific moral code and a belief in some form of judgement, such as karma or the Threefold Law.[5]

The occultist Dion Fortune[6][7] considered Abrahamic religions to be RHP.

The devil is holding a torch with his right hand.

Torch - [Google] ...the torch being a symbol of liberty, freedom, inspiration, knowledge, and teaching.

Revealing the message. There is no freedom in this card, attachment.

Where the right hand is associated with magic and religion, the devil holds it away and raises his left hand. He's all about questioning and breaking from tradition while his left hand pisses on bettering one's self.

The two people can't say shit, can they?

Combined we have a man upside down and a demon. The devil is taking control of the situation? What was bad is now worse than ever?
