Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 The Land of Legends and Secrets

As I reach out to touch the appearance of her image. My mother reaches out towards me. When I touch the mirror a flash of energy surges through me. Next thing I know I'm somewhere else. How do I know you ask because although it is darker then it was before I can still see in the water and what I see makes no sense? What I see in the deep and darkness of the vast depth I'm at is a city an old city that has worn away under the vast body of water. Afraid of what is going on I swim up to the surface. As I get closer to the surface I see what looks like a light upon the shore. Once I break the water I see the light is a fire and there is someone sitting by it. I'm afraid what kind of person would be out here on the shore by a fire. But my biggest concern is this person waiting for someone and is that someone me. As I swim closer I see a set of clothes by the fire and notice by the person is a seashell and a cake. Then as I get closer to the person they stand and wave. There is no way a person could see me in the dark let alone from this distance right. Then I notice them next to the seemingly weird person on the shore with a cake is two plates not any plates mind you but Brookes ugly seashell motif. Then I realize that its none other than Brooke. Once I got to shore she looked at me with a scowl then a laugh. I asked what was funny she said that she knew between my ADHD and the ring that I wouldn't be home when she got back. I asked if that's true then why did she scowl at me. She looked at me and said you shouldn't be here. Well I am I replied there was a second of silence and she said with an earth shaking presence River Genève Layfête. Not only did I know I over stepped my bounds but I learned that I had a middle name and It was Genève.

She told me I should have been in the Bay of Timish. I looked at her and asked why, she looked at me and told me the ring should have brought me to the nearest body of water. Then she asked how I found the cove. I looked at her flabbergasted she knew about the cove. But I started to explain that I was walking towards the bay thinking to myself when I noticed there was no one around. Before I told her about the monsters she asked me about the vacant town and as I was telling her I noticed her hand moving closer to the seashell next to her. Then she asked if I was worried why I didn't head back towards the house and bakery. I explained not only was I going to but I started to until I saw the snakes. Then she smirked and said what type of snake was it and amusingly chuckled. I looked at her sternly and told her they weren't snakes and she looked back at me with a little worry in her voice what were they if they weren't snakes. I laughed and said they looked like Dracones she wasn't laughing in a split second the hand that stopped reaching for that seashell grabbed on to that shell. Now that was the second time in my entire life she looked like she was full of dread and both in the same day. She told me this shouldn't have happened yet and I shouldn't have been here. She asked me to continue the story and I did. I explained about the Cetea in the Bay of Timish and how I kept running and came upon a mysterious cove. I explained how I had jumped into the water and could swim faster than the schools of fish, my abilities to both see and breath underwater and the mirror. She was surprised about the mirror and that was it. She asked me what was in the reflection like she knew it wouldn't be me I told her it looked like my mother smiling and waving at me. She then chuckled and said Genève I looked at her and said what. She replied oh sorry not you, I was thinking of your mom her name was Genève even after death she knew. At first I was awestruck if my mother was dead how did I see her in the mirror. Then I wonder what she meant by knew. She explained that even after death she knew monsters would try to attack me, she knew I would make it to the cove and that was why my mother's last thing she said to Brooke before she left and never returned above all her ring was now my ring and no matter what. I would receive it on my 16 birthday and that Brooke would above all make sure I put it on. Brooke then started crying saying she knew she was going to die that's why she left the ring and even though she knew it was her death she knew I would need it more. I was 2 when my mother left I asked Brooke if the ring was so important then why leave it to me. Brooke laughed your mother always knew stuff noticed the smallest little details that everyone else would over look. I then asked something I wish I hadn't asked her what did my mom see in me, she looked at me and responded she saw the end. I had to ask the end of what she responded the war but we can't do it alone. She then told me that I would have to find the weapon my mother left me I asked her where it was. She looked at me and pointed at the lake "the lake I asked her". She nodded and I told her the only thing down them was a ruined city. She laughed and told me that was my ruined city so I asked her to explain. The city she told me was an ancient and powerful city that was filled with as many secrets as legends and I laughed at her. How can a dilapidated old city have secrets let alone legends she laughs and tells me that was no ordinary city it was Atlantis and it was my Ancestral home. It took me a little bit of time to understand the blood that flowed through my mother the same blood that flowed through me was no ordinary blood. I was a direct decedent of the Paragons of Atlantis the living embodiment of the strength and resolve of the great Atlantian people bestowed by the ancient Atlantian gods with powers to protect not only our lands but the lands of all from the embodiments of war and death. I laughed at her even if I had this weapon and these powers she spoke. I couldn't beat the monsters chasing me how was I supposed to beat these embodiments of war and death. She laughed at me and said did I ever say you would have to do it alone.
